Gate and button colours
As my colour-vision is deficient, I can't see the difference between the light-green and yellow gates and buttons as well as between the white and cyan gates and buttons. With effort I can see a tiny difference by switching colours in the level-editor, but not in real game situations.
I wonder how it has not crossed my mind before after so many years of playing: has someone tried changing the colours of the gates/buttons slightly? is there a file in RTW and/or WA I can tamper with to change their hue somewhat so it is easier to play?

RTW does not allow that option as far as I know. For WA, however, there's a simple way to do it:
Each game has a \Data\Graphics folder in its root directory. Two files, named hbuft.wdf and cvuupot1.wdf are found in this folder. Both of these can be opened with MS Paint so you can quickly change the colors of buttons and gates.
Some other image editing programs will require that you rename the file extension into bmp first. Note that there's no conversion involved; simply renaming the extension works, since the file is coded as bmp.

Some of the res files are graphical and can be opened in Paint and played with. Unfortunately, I don't know if your particular wish is possible. I have never tried any res editing. Others may know more about it.
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

RTW RES File Media
hi Amnon,
Certain res files in RTW have JPG and BMP images,
stored within in a series fashion.
Since I had time, ...
I did find the following statistics with an unpacker:
res2.dat is exceptional in that it contains a lot of media;
it contains 116 JPGs, 97 BMPs, 93 WAVs
The following RTW files contain 1 BMP within:
{ res9, res12, res13, res15, res16, res17, res18, res19, res20,
res21, res22, res26, res51, res52, res53, res60, res61, res62,
res63, res64, res65, res66, res67, res68, Wonderland.exe }
The following RTW files contain 1 JPG within:
{ res14, res23, res24, res27, res28, res29, res30, res54,
res55, res56, res57, res58, res59 }
The following RTW files contain 1 WAV within:
{ ldr1.dat, ldr3.dat, res31, res32, res33, res34, res35, res36,
res37, res38, res39, res40, res41, res42, res43, res44, res45, res46,
res47, res48, res49, res50 }
The collection
res3.dat to res8.dat
are actually .it music files
There may be a way to automate the process of changing RES
files, but at this point, it's very complex.
People could theoretically load a CustomRes folder at their leisure;
The process would never be automated by the game itself.
You can view extracted RES images:
{ The following were all extracted with AllMedia Grabber,
You can also use Dragon Unpacker to achieve the same results.

Guys, using the Dragon Unpacker, unpack Res2. And go to the very END Of its packed folder and click on the Wav. You'll here one of the Super Secret RTW Feature Noises! (Only works on RTW. duh) Its the Song one.tyteen4a03 wrote:I think res2 is the heart of the classic Wonderland - it probably stored the essential models and stuff.Muzozavr wrote:WOW, so ldr files worked a similar way? I didn't even know that!
And res2.dat is certainly unusual.
Rawr.
