[Mod] Krabby Quest Editor - v0.02

Post by HumanGamer » Tue Oct 11, 2016 7:21 pm

Hey all,

I've managed to port RTW's entire custom level selector into Krabby Quest. Combined with my remake of the RTW editor that supports KQ, makes a perfect KQ Editor + Player.

Keep in mind, it is a WIP and needs lots and lots of testing. It is currently quite buggy.

If you notice any strange bugs, please report them to this topic.

The binaries for Krabby Quest are not included. Only patches for them. I included one of the res files from the shockwave version so it will work with BigFish. This res file only contains the shockwave logo.

[0.01] http://www.mediafire.com/file/vq50avt0k ... r-0.01.zip

EDIT: I forgot to mention in the v0.01 readme file that the actual exe file for BigFish is a hidden file.

Changelog:

Code: Select all

v0.02:
    * Fixed animation speed of background sprites on Level Pack Menu
    * Fixed background not animating on Custom Level Selector

v0.01:
    - Initial Release
    - Added Level Pack Selector
    - Added Custom Level Selector
Install:

Code: Select all

Install Instructions:
---------------------

Note:
- The game's exe for the shockwave version is SpongeBob.exe.
- The game's exe for the bigfish version is SpongeBob SquarePants Krabby Quest.exe and is hidden
- Make sure to follow the steps in order to avoid issues!

1. Copy the contents of the game folder to somewhere else on your computer. (For shockwave this is inside the product folder)
2. Patch your game's exe file using the patch for your version (BigFishGames or Shockwave) with LunarIPS (included)
3. Place the patched exe into the folder you copied the game to. (If it's not already there)
4. Rename the exe to Sponge.exe
5. Copy everything in the Binaries folder into the same folder that you copied the official files to.
6. Your done. Run editor2d.exe to open the editor. Run SpongeBob.exe to open the game.

Code: Select all

This is a test release. It is very buggy. Please report any bugs you find.

It's a shame this mod hasn't been developed any further. It makes playing custom levels a lot easier, and the ability to change the game's resolution is quite a welcome addition as well.

But at the same time, it really is incredibly buggy. So much so that it completely broke after I used it a few times and now crashes whenever I start a level. It's not really usable in its current state.

Is there any chance you could revisit it at some point in the future?

Possibly, although if I do, it won't be anytime soon.
