mette, Blast didn't mean the same colour as the quote box. He meant the actual post background colour (the light one, not the dark one).

EDIT: Or have I made a mistake?

I know what you meant, but I could still read the text.

I saw a post with dark background and light text. When I go back to the post now, it's dark background and dark text and the color codes have changed. As far as I can see, you have edited your post since my reply, and I'm guessing your edit was about the color codes. So my conclusion is: It didn't work the first time because you made a mistake. Now it works because you have edited your post.

Btw. Even if it works I find it a lot easier to just use the quote box with white text. I know it always works and it's easy for other people to see that there's something there for them to read.

It is easier, but I was just posting a way to hide a spoiler in a way that most people will have no idea that there's a spoiler there (e.g. if you reveal your full name). The quotebox way is better if you want people to know about the spoiler though.
I'm never gonna tell you my full name though. >:-)

Actually, this works.

For real perfectionists, the totally same color for the quote box was discovered by Small, I think. It's #FAFAFA.

Try to strain your eyes very hard (or invert colors in Paint) at a regular quote spoiler:
Regular spoiler
and Small's spoiler:
Small's spoiler -- THIS IS THE EXACT SAME COLOUR!

Maybe you don't see the difference, but I do. I can vaguely make out the first spoiler text, but never the second one.

Oh, and is it so difficult to remember #FAFAFA? (shot, bricked, hanged)

Ok, so I pasted the page into Paint Shop, and used the colour dropper to test the colours in the quotes. The background of the quote boxes is R:250, G:250, B:250, which is not quite perfect white, and the text is 255 which is perfect white. In the one with the hex instead of name the text is also 250 which indeed does match the background perfectly.

BUT, I think for most people, who aren't going to go to the trouble of pasting the page into an art package, or who haven't got eyes like a hawk as you have Muzzie, then just using white will be perfectly ok, and a lot less messing about.

So I suppose it's up to the person doing the spoiler, whichever method they want to use. Just as long as it's in quotes.

It's either me, or the computer I'm using. I think I remember that once when I was on my laptop (right now I'm on my dad's Windows 2000), I looked from a point quite to the left of the screen, which is where the screen seems to go really dark in places. I saw the text in a spoiler, and oh, I remember now! I got an idea that maybe the spoiler box isn't pure white.

I'm feeling a proper twonk now. I've been looking at my screen from the side, been down on my knees looking up at it, been stood above it looking down, didn't quite get round to standing on my head, but I STILL can't see any difference at all.

It's, IMO, easier to see (for me) with less brightness, and, more importantly, being very close to the screen. From the regular distance, I also couldn't see it. I need to practically inch so close to the screen.
Also, if you have a CRT monitor, it will be probably impossible to see, because they work by dithering. LCD can instead provide exact colors for each pixel, and are better for such close differences. And if you saw no difference AT ALL, not even in slight colouring differences overall... your monitor is likely a CRT.

Popo, you either have a curved screen or a flat screen which isn't a laptop's.

No, I've got a flat screen LCD monitor, and my brightness is usually quite dark, so dark in fact that I have to change it to play adventure games otherwise I can't see things properly.

I have got a setting that helps to blend the colours on the screen better, because sometimes you get visible lines in the shading. Maybe that setting stops me seeing the letters in the spoilers.

Just wondering though Muzzie, why you want to have your nose on the screen when reading the forum. It must be terribly uncomfortable.

Blah blah blah blah blah
Blah blah blah blah blah
Blah blah blah blah blah
Blah blah blah blah blah
Blah blah blah blah blah
Blah blah blah blah blah
Blah blah blah blah blah
Blah blah blah blah blah
Blah blah blah blah blah
Blah blah blah blah blah
Now that is weird. :?
The first one is white, the second FAFAFA, etc.

I can (at least on this computer) see (but still not make out) words in the first quote box at a normal distance without much difficulty, but it seems impossible in the third quote box. Has anyone got an explanation for this? Does anyone else find it relatively easy to see the words in the first quote box?

P.S. Popo, I think that looking at the screen from different angles causing the screen to go darker only really works with laptops.

I recieved a nasty pm today, about me giving people help here. I've also got yelled at for NOT giving enough help. So what's it gonna be then?

So I just want to remind you all that you should NOT mark any spoiler and read it, unless you're sure you want/need to!!!

:D :D :D Inger, in my opinion it's always good to help people when they ask for. If it's in a "white quote" then everyone can decide if they want to highlight it or not.

And nasty PM's; just ignore them  If they want to say something about how and what people should post on this forum, then I think they could better also post on the forum, and at a friendly way, or at least neutral.

So carry on! :D :D :D
