A Preview of What is to Come...
A Preview of What is to Come...
Hey everyone!
You might've been wondering why I haven't released any new adventures lately.
Well, I've been working on a project of mine called "Rainbow's End".
I don't know what to really call it, I'm thinking that it could be best described as a "mod".
Here are some screenshots to show what I've already done:

Com Rante, you really have amazing designing talent! Your level, no, adventure designs could trick someone into thinking that it was the official WA.

Thanks for all the feedback!
@maxnick
"Mod" is short for "modification", which is a term used when someone makes a game out of another game. That is sort of what I am doing here.
And when it comes to releasing a demo, I don't think that will happen. You should expect the full adventure in its 60 room glory by atleast the end of summer.
I will put up more screenshots as the production progresses...

When can we expect your new project?
At the end of this month? After the summer? Or....
Actually, quite good. I've finished a whole new world. I'm making the textures more "WA"-ish right now, but progress is a tad slow.
I hope I can finish it within the next 6 months, but maybe sooner than that. I'm not going to promise anything. Most of the "adventure" has been designed, but it is all on paper. I have some other commitments at the moment, so don't be surprised if you have to wait awhile.

I just finished fixing up the "purple shore" texture, but to be honest, the progress on this thing is around 0. I had my most recent work on a USB, so that I could work on my stuff over vacation, however, the USB broke.
I lost around half of my work.
I HATE giving up projects, as for that is the reason why I never show ones that I don't know I will finish, but this time other elements decided if I could finish this or not.
After losing half your work, you really need to wonder if it is worth it to move on. Here is a deal, I'll have a release of the most up to date version I have right now. I really don't see myself finishing this. My deep apologies to everyone who was looking forward to it.
Edit: BTW, I might also finish all the textures I had planned for this, so stay tuned...

Hmmmm... Well, this looks like a very interesting project, for sure...
Need help ?
In all honesty though, I don't have much to do nowadays, apart from playing random games in Emulators *coughSuperMarioWorldcough*
Looks very interesting, I hope you can recover all the data you need for it, because it looks like it can easily rival WA itself!

Okay everyone, here it is.
This is the most up to date version of Rainbow's End that I have now. It comes with both the custom textures and the adventure itself.
This is very, VERY, unfinished. Remember this when playing.
There is enough stuff here to last you awhile.
If you have any questions about anything, I'll be glad to answer them.
So, have fun!

I think next time you should save your work on BOTH your computer AND USB.So 1 of them broke you won't lose lots of works.Com Rante wrote:No, I do not. Losing all of the newer stuff I was working on completely killed all of my motivation to make the adventure.
Sad really, since I would have loved to see it finished.
I was on vacation, working on my grandmother's laptop. I didn't have my computer with me, since it isn't, ahem, portable. So I kept all my data on the USB. However, my USB broke along the way.tyteen4a03 wrote:I think next time you should save your work on BOTH your computer AND USB.So 1 of them broke you won't lose lots of works.Com Rante wrote:No, I do not. As far as the story goes, I will tell you what I was thinking...
You are ship wrecked on a strange island. You figure out that this island is a place called Rainbow's End. You meet a native who shows you a machine that is sucking up the color. He tells you that there are more of these machines, and asks you to help him get rid of all of them, in exchange for a way home. You go exploring all seven worlds, each one based off a color of the rainbow. You find more of the machines in these worlds.
The adventure would have three endings. The first one, the bad ending, is achieved when you collect 75 coins and pay the Red Thwart to send you home. This ends with you coming home to a destoried Wondertown. The second ending, or the regular ending, is achieved when you collect all 7 colored keys. You use the keys to access the inside of the "mother machine", where you are treated to one final puzzle where you have to turn the mother machine off. This ending has you returning to Wondertown, where nothing is destoried, but all the color is sucked out. Apparently you only destoried part of the machine, thus it was still able to cause some damage.
The good ending, achieved by collecting all 120 coins, all 7 color keys, and all 7 rainbow keys, has you turning off the machine completely, and you return to a happy Wondertown, where you can meet Stinky and Loof (who just had an "adventure" themselves ) and Qookie and Peegue.
There was some more ideas I had, but I really don't have the time to explain them all...
