Is it possible to block forums?

Post by loofisawesome » Mon Mar 02, 2015 11:34 pm

I want to not get notices about posts from the Meet and Greet thread, because of what happened to Wonderland King's i'm alive! thread.
You posed dramatically.

There's a Mark All Forums Read button at the bottom of the index page.

Ignoring them is the best option. Also, you won't receive any more mail notifications if you don't click the link.

Obscenity Censor

That sounds like a good idea,
but I've had hard relationships with noswear. :(

They either work too tightly or work too loosely.
Or both. :|

Still, nice comment in my opinion. :)

Plus I don't know if he'd even be able to do it. :|
Your only little stinker that's absolutely NOT a z-bot by this name,
Jutomi~

Also, if you want to see my level list, here it is! :D
(Also: List of Hubs, WA Manual)
Oh, and my YT wonderland channel. Forgot about that.

In my old forum I had administrator control panel I saw something called... Word Censors he adds the swear word and he will add a other word that will replace that swear word.

MS trusts us and doesn't turn on the censor words thingy. Yes, it is indeed available in pretty much all forum bases, phpBB included.

I'm actually not sure what happened to it. We used to have it in this forum, but it got disabled somewhere down the line.

The problem with word censors is if you are merely swearing to be offensive/break rules, as was pretty obviously the case here, they wouldn't really accomplish anything, since they are pretty easy to work around via character substitutions, spacing, etc. It would help if someone habitually swears and does so in their posts without thinking about it, but that is very rarely the case.

&@#$!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Anyway, the "no swear" feature can get very confused when it's not properly implemented and since this forum runs on a very old version of phpBB, I wouldn't trust the noswear of that version to be perfect. I'm struggling to give an example that wouldn't technically break the rules here...

... but I'll just mention the words "clbuttic mistake" and the fact that people living in Scunthorpe have been repeatedly denied registration back in AOL days due to a malfunctioning profanity filter (no explanation will be given here, for obvious reasons) as reasons why the noswear filter is probably not the best idea.
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.
