Terraria - Like Minecraft But Different!
Recently I have found out about a game called "Terraria". It's like Minecraft, but 2D, and with what looks like a lot more to do. It started development in January, 2011 and is going to be released tomorrow on Steam, but will cost $10.
You can check out the website here: http://www.terraria.org/
You can look at a playlist of an LP by one of the game testers here (warning, possible swearing (?) in some videos): http://www.youtube.com/playlist?p=PLF53E053F06BA83D5

It's here! At least about 7 hours ago it was released!
Here's the Steam page where you can buy it ($10 for the first week of its release, prices after are unknown):
http://store.steampowered.com/app/105600/
Unfortunately until I can find some other way to pay for it other than a credit card I can't buy it.

*BUMPY ROAD*
Got this for my b-day, by the way.
It rocks.
I found a place called "The Corruption."
I broke a Shadow Orb down at the bottom of one of the chasms (stupid slime knocked me down), got a musket from it (now an arms dealer can move in!), and am now waiting for a meteor to fall from the sky. Then I can get it's meteorite for making a Phaseblade.

I know, love it. It's nice how this is similar to minecraft with the crafting, but completely different with the adventure aspect of it.
Hurry up Meteor! I want my Phaseblade!
It might be good to have an Obsidian Skull though...

The description for "Rotten Chunk" is funny.
Rotten Shunk
Looks tasty!
I cracked up.

Y'know, I've played this quite a bit and fought The Eater of Worlds and The Eye of Kfulu (sp) and I have come to a conclusion.
DON'T COMPARE THIS TO MINECRAFT.
It's bad enough that the first 2 hours of it seem quite clone-y, but then people expect minecraft stuff and then blam the game for essentially it being unique. What's up with that? If you could treat it as its own game then it's pretty awesome.

Meteorite is harder to get than I thought.
It hurts on contact, and the whole time Meteor Heads are flying into you pushing you into it.
I need 20 Meteorite bars for my PhaseBlade, and they are six meteorite ores apiece.
Hmph. Also, the Eye og Cthuhlu ofr however you say it attacked me and I died. :P

I have a blue lightsaber. Gold picks dont work on obsidian, I checked. You need a nightmare pickaxe. Now I need to defeat Eater of Worlds if I am to get shadow scales and demonite.
I fought the goblin army too. It was INSANE.
I came out rich though, and with three or four pairs of rocket boots. They killed all my NPCs, but then the NPCs came back.

I defeated Eye of Cthulhu or whatever, and a Dryad moved in, I bought purification powder, and went to The Corruption and broke two shadow orbs. (I broke three in that world total)
Eater of Worlds has awakened!
That battle was epic. I got my shadow scales, too. I have an obsidian skull now, yay.
I'm focusing on finding a hook, and skeletons aren't cooperating. :P
Then I must head to the underground jungle, which for me I believe is on the left of the map, and find the items needed for an Ivy Whip.

Oh...well, they aren't always in a chasm. but I think they are only in the Corruption.
As for the Underground Jungle, locate your world's Dungeon entrance (which is on the surface towards the edges of the world), the Jungle is opposite to it. (e.g. My dungeon is on the right of the map, so my Underground Jungle is at the left of the map)

I found a Life Crystal once.
My map is Medium. Sometimes, I make new, smaller worlds for different purposes, and as items carry over, well, yeah.
Also, Eater of Worlds is easy.
Making the summoner for him is easy too. I have three of them or something. The battle pays really well too, you can normally get a little more than 1 stack of Demonite and Shadow Scales. It also drops Shadow Armor. I made most of my armor, I took the Shadow Scalemail from it, and used the demonite and scales to make the rest, then I battled it again, on got more stuff, including a Shadow Helmet, which I sold.

Woah... floating islands are awesome.
The nighttime monsters spawn in day there, and you can find a chest in a GOLD CABIN with some really awesome stuff in there. I got a blue lightsaber from it, too. And the coolest thing is that they don't spawn until you decide to throw yourself off of the bridge in the sky, which you access from the huge purple tower thing.
Also, recently, I was playing on a server with some of my friends when Cat Expendable decided to break some shadow orbs without the others of us knowing. It was a big suprise and took us quite a bit to fend it off since, as you know, we didn't have much to fight back with. The only tip-off that one was coming was 2 seconds before it came: "A meteorite has landed!" We all thought "ohhhhhh noooo" and then there it was.
