Coding Challenge

Post by cloudrac3r » Fri Aug 26, 2016 5:13 am

I enjoy coding, and I'm sure other people on the forum do too, such as Caton with his project that we don't know much about.I thought it would be fun if we could have a little, say, competition to try to code something (not too hard) that one of the forum users decides on. The challenge does not have to be related to Wonderland, but it could be if you want. We could have a new challenge every couple of weeks (or so), and anyone who completes the challenge could publish their code for others to learn from.
It's probably best if any coding language is allowed, on any platform, open or otherwise, etc.
I thought this might be fun. How about you?

I suppose I'll decide what the first challenge is:
The challenge wrote:Write code which, every few minutes, checks either the "Puzzle/Action levels" or the "Custom adventures and hubs" forum for new posts, and if there is one, downloads the attached level and puts it in the Wonderland levels folder, ready to play next time the game is opened.
I don't think that's too difficult. I'm sure I could do that, and I'm probably not the best coder around here.

That's a lot of code, and I don't know what it does, or how to run it. Care to explain?

Hi, From what I remember, ...

THAT, wlf_scrapy *( https://github.com/tyteen4a03/wlf_scrapy ), created by tyteen4a03,
is some advanced python code from ~4 years ago.

Its purpose was to accumulate an offline database containing all sorts of data
scraped from this discussion forum.
Supposedly it would have included level attachments + associated metadata, (date, time, user info, etc...).
But, it looks like that project has been abandoned; Image
