Tricky Puzzles

Post by Muzozavr » Sat Jul 19, 2008 10:42 pm

Like the invisible game now, but not limited to numbers. These puzzles can be about anything. Not neccesarily invisible.
There is a hidden word in this post. Highlighting will not work. What is the hidden word?

Well yeah, facade. But thigh is cool too, so I'll count is as a second answer.

Tyteen, is THAT an answer or a new puzzle?
EDIT: Just got it, duh... needed to think vertically. (WTYTEEN4A03)

Since no one continues, I will.

This one is a riddle.
You're locked inside an empty room, where the only rejoice is the beautiful wallpapers, but that's not much, is it? There are no items in the room. The windows are locked, and it's too dangerous to try and break them, because of the glass shattering.
However, as you look through the keyhole, you realise that someone has been stupid and simply left the key at the other side. If only you could find a way to reach it...

Objective: Find a logical way to get out without breaking the door. :P There are no special tricks in this puzzle, but you do need some out-of-the-box thinking for one part.

This is just a rehash of a very old and known concept, so it should be easy.

Call for help?
Great one, and one that I overlooked, thanks for noticing. But it's not THAT straightforward... :(
Use your shoelace to grab it?
And how in the world can you do so? I did thought of that, but you'd need to put the lace through the keyhole, and the key won't fit when you pull it through the keyhole, now, would it?

So, sorry, but no.

Blow through the hole and make it fall. THEN the shoe lace comes in!

First, there are other, more reliable ways to make it fall. Like using the very same shoelace.

However, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but it's still impossible.

If you put the lace through the keyhole, it doesn't matter much if the key falls.
If you put the lace through the bottom, there isn't a way to tie the rope to the key reliably. The only way to make it even remotely viable is to make a huge loop (which isn't possible, laces aren't THAT long) and put it through the bottom. Then hope you can push the key with the loop. And since keys are thin... you know, I've actually tried that and failed always. The loop simply goes over. Even if it's possible, it's simply too hard to be "real", and you only get one shot at this. One teensy mistake and you're stranded.

There is a much simpler way, that works always and is reliable.

How about taking off your shirt, and slide the key in?

How far is the key from the door?

speegled wins for the shirt! Shirts FTW!
My original plan was tearing down a wallpaper, but the shirt solution is more "impromptu",

Sad news: don't try getting out of locked rooms in real life. Any sane people (if they leave the key in the lock at all) will turn the key half-way, so that the key gets lodged in the lock and you can't push it out at all!

You have a T.V. Instead of real shows, it shows black.
Turning it on and off won't work.
How do you fix it?

Hint:
It has 204 Digital Video Records.

Does the person who owns the TV have any kind of cable service that uses cable boxes? If so, is it set on ch. 3?

Is it set on a black screen channel? (I've heard such exist)
If so, then switch it to another channel.

I know! The way its hooked up is with the red, white, and yellow colored wires! The red and white (which are sound) are plugged in, but not the yellow! (Which is the picture!) I am very good with TV's! And if its not that, I don't know!

Marinus-I would've never have thought of that in a million years! Wow!That was a good solution!I accept that!Too good!

Jdl-I'll accept that too, although it doesn't exactly work.It is good, but still, the screen shows blackish-greyish.

My original plan was deleting all the DVR.

Jdl or Marinus can go next, decide who goes.

I never get a turn. I've only got "Yes/No" puzzles though, if that's ok.

I have a little puzzle though, and since Jacob is still not here, in the meantime I'll post mine. But Jacob, if you want to post a puzzle though, feel free to post it, and forget about mine.

Beside that: If they are small puzzles I think we can do 2 at the same time. But that's just my opinion. If someone doesn't agree, no problem.

And Mqdar, if you like yes/no puzzles but you don't like the kind of puzzles in my topic, feel free to start your own.

Ok, in Dutch there is some kind of expression, but that's not really important. Maybe it is in other languages as well. The expression itself is the puzzle and it's in the quote.
Many little bits together make one big one

Well of course many little squares make one big square. That way it could be many many things. And I think it's not tricky.

So I give a hint: The answer is just a number between 0 and 1000. Nothing more. But I have to say: You need some knowledge about certain things.

Ok Jacob, Thanks :D

Speegled, I take that back what I said about many many things, for to be honest, I can't think out much other things. So I say your answer is pretty good but I like to wait until someone gives the intended solution. You were too fast too. 8)  :D :D :D 8) :D

If many little bits are BIT and the big one is BYTE then the answer is 8.
However, if you mean BYTE and KILOBYTE then it's not 1000. It's a very common misconception among people who are less tech, but the actual amount of BYTES in KILOBYTES, KILOBYTES in MEGABYTES and et cetera is 1024 -- no more no less.
