I'm still extremely confused....

EDIT: why every time when I spell c-o-c-k-n-e-y (without the dashes) does it change it to coily? It's a special dialect spoke in some parts of London. Click the above link

But what are you talking about? I do not get it... the joke was I had been to london for a dew days and come back talking like an East Londoner, I reallly am confused as to what your talking about. ANd that site was the place that converts English into Cockeny slang, its a joke site.

EDIT: Coily slang ? this crude spell checker seems to be changing my word, must check a list of pre determined nasty words, and I guess c-o-c-k-n-e-y is one of them, interesting it does a match check against the whole world and not simple the offending word, therefore If I am correct it would change c-o-c-k-e-r-a-l

Cockeral

Was I right ?

Glad to have you back!!!! It's not what on earth, it's what on Wonderland is going on!!

Don't worry -- the accent you picked up will fade in time, just like blue jeans. Cool web site, that's interesting.

Hey, Zippy, welcome back from your trip. Don't know about everyone else, but I think your new accent is just delightful. Wow, that's how people talk in London, huh? Did you have to carry around a laptop and refer to that link you gave to figure out what people were saying to you?

Welcome back BigZ. :D We have definitely missed you!

We have a few accents and slang over here that are a bit hard to understand as well. Locally, we have something called Guinea. This is the only place in the country that speaks this particular variation. Outsiders coming in usually need a translator!

Just for majic1, a translation.

Lord above! Hey everyone, how are you all today? Haven't been online a lot lately, lots of damn studying stuff. Been watching the snooker and the football. Found out my ISP are increasing my speed by 50% as well and it isn't going up in price either. I spent a couple of days down in London, I hope I haven't picked up any bad habits in my speech. The food was expensive down there, I spent £500 in total!! Just about to watch the new episode of Star Trek Enterprise. Did you know running up the stairs burns a lot of calories? I'm sick (not quite sure what Bob an' fish was supposed to mean) of those adverts on television about claiming compensation, I bet everyone on them are actors, ouch I just cut my arm on a fork. was quite funny really.

Incidentally, a bit of information for all our non-UK residents. The 'C-ockney Rhyming Slang' stuff here is totally over-exaggerated. I've lived in London 18 years and have yet to hear anyone speak like East Londoners are alleged to or like in BigZ's fun piece above. I have neighbours in their 80's who tell me the same thing.

It can still be fun to play with though.

~Bear

btw It would appear that Patrick has added a swear word/expletive filter into the board. that is why C-ockey (without the dash) comes out as coily. I tested it out with some other words I heard were naughty  and it's true.

I know about everyone else, but I personally don't need mothered Patrick. I know the intention is for this to be a 'family' site, but you can take things just too far. I'm certainly not offended by the word 'c-ock' (without the -).
Where is everyone thesedays? PM me and say hello.

Well said Bear!

I tried to write in a post " payback's a b**ch" it came out as "payback's a
zbot"!

How does that word seem to be swearing? I have two female dogs and they certainly aren't zbots!

So c'mon Patrick, this forum is not made up of a bunch of foul mouthed youngsters.

Give us some credit, I personally would never use expletives on the forum nor in my day to day life.

Rather hilarious, actually, that we would be posting on this board for months and only accidentally find out that there IS a filter when someone tries to post the word C-ockney! An expletive filter doesn't have much to do on this forum; poor little guy must be pretty bored.

Ooohhh! So that's what it's all about.

I thought BIGZIPZ meant the spell checker on HIS computer, and I thought, der, don't spell check it then

Didn't realise it was the Wonderland forum doing it.

So I'd just like to say....

EDIT
 didn't think that would be printed

Paaaatriiiiick!!!

Yes the translation I put was completley over the top, in fact I didn't hear a single person use any slang in London while I was there.

Don't know what Bob and Fish means, the converter put it in but I cannot find the word.

I thought it was very funny. It's just a pity some people haven't got or understood it. Mind you, the swear filter hasn't helped you.

I'll ask about and find out a bit about "Bob an' Fish", that one has really got me. lol

Hello all,

the word censor was put in place waaay back in November when I first setup the board... I totally forgot about it until I saw these posts.

It's removed now. It did go through old posts and re-replaced words automatically - so you might find a sudden surge in discussions involving male hens, female dogs, and other wonders of nature. ;)

Oh, an by the way, there is no "bob and fish" expression. There is however a "bob and dick". ;)

Stinky and Loof don't like any discussion involving private eyes, either! 8)
