(EXPANSION ANNOUNCEMENT!) Wonderland Adventures - RE-IMAGINED!

Post by StinkyFTW » Sat Nov 09, 2019 7:46 pm

First off, thank you to everyone for an amazing 2019!

Now what you all came here for...

You read the title right, Re-Imagined is getting a MAJOR Expansion in the coming months/weeks!

Why is it getting an expansion? Simple; During development of the hub, I cut practically half of the game!

Here is what was cut

-Multiple Shards; I was going to use every color available, but I ended up scrapping that.

-The Creepy Keep; it would have been fully playable similar to PoTZ. The White Shard was going to be held in it.

-The Sky Temple; a hard, set of levels within the Sky Temple, it would have held the Gray Shard.

-The Desert Pits; There's actually a Graphical Artifact of this left in the Wastelands. This long, deep into the Earth area would have held the Fire Shard.

-The Hills; A massive part of the Hills was cut. You would have originally found the Orange Shard before entering the Caves and you would've found the deep blue Shard in the caves.

-Wondertown; The plan was for it to be much bigger than the Original, but that was cut due to me not wanting to spend days on a single area.

-WonderCade Round 2; I know, the Arcade was the laziest part of the Hub, and there's even a joke eluding to it. WonderCade round 2 would have been the basement of the Arcade, holding much more re-defined variants of the current levels.

-The Mushroom Caverns; The area is much shorter than the Original. You would have come back later and gotten the Mushroom Crystal in a deeper part of the cave.

-The Acid Lake; The Mayor of Forest's Edge would have gotten stuck in the lake post-game. You would have stumbled upon the Dark Green shard while rescuing him.

The expansion would also crush all remaining bugs and extend other areas as well, and add some quality of life improvements to the over-all Hub.

So over-all, the expansion is going to pretty much double the Hub in Size, and it's gonna add a ton of side-quests with branching paths as well!

Just don't expect a crazy-fast release - these things take time!

Wait, *WHAT?!?!?!* Am I dreaming right now?! When you revealed the development thread last month, I wasn't expecting it to be *ALMOST DONE!!!* Well, I guess I know what I'm doing today after I watch today's episode of Spider-Man on Disney Now... :stinkyhappy:

Double post, but... Uhh...

I'm softlocked.

Yeah, so, I couldn't find one of the 8 coins in the first adventure, and forgot about the treasure trove I saw a bit earlier over in the bottom-left corner of the main room of the Forest Temple, so I didn't have enough coins to get to the Glow Gem, and so I came back for it after beating Frightening Chasm and returning to the Rainbow Temple, and *APPARENTLY* you can't go back to the Rainbow Temple the way you came, and now the way back to the Dark Woods is blocked too. You might want to fix that...

My friend Cookie and I are almost past the Wasteland but we're getting the rainbows keys together. I'll probably summarize my thoughts and put it all in one big message later.

Yeah, I’ve gotten soft locked a couple times too.
-When I first reached the Rainbow Temple Morklin was supposed to come up and start a dialog, which he did... but i left the wlv right when he started talking. The dialog still went on and at the end it’s supposed to open a gate, but since I wasn’t in the right wlv, nothing opened and I couldn’t start the dialog again.
-In the Ruins, there’s a button to raise the rainbow bridges but there’s a Command 2 randomly placed right before the button that deactivates the bridges to the button. Thankfully you can walk around it.

*installs the hotfix* Uhhh... I'm still softlocked in the Forever Forest. I try to take the lower-left red arrow in the southern-most room, and I just re-enter the same room a few tiles to the right of said arrow.

I think for those who are locked... You'll have to restart.

Hopefully you have an earlier save. And in the first adventure, one of the coins is inside a wall. I had to edit the coin out so I could collect it.

*sigh* Yeah, I do have an earlier save, though I don't wanna have to use it... You gotta do what you gotta do though. Still, it'd be nice for anyone else that plays it if it gets fixed.

As for that one coin in the first adventure: Is it completely inaccessable without modifying the level, or is it just hidden in a fake wall? If it's the former, that should also be fixed, though that's a minor gripe in comparison to a softlock.

I'm at Cabinet Run Demo in the Wondertown Arcade now. Um... Am I missing something here? There are literally two tiles I can stand on: The one I start on and the one next to me. I can't go any further...

The first major things to fix are the Major Bugs and Softlocks.

-I need to fix Cabinet Run

-I need to fix the Forever Forest Mountain Base Loop

-I need to fix the Four Legendary Rainbow Keys.

-The Super-Secret

-The broken, 'floating' water pads everywhere.

Once I've crushed everything out, then the expansion will be easier to make.

That said... roughly 75% of the Expansion will be post-game, so you will have to play through the main-game again. But will all the improvements, new side-quests, etc. it should be much better!

Double-post but...

Great news!

All major soft-locks have been patched up, and most bug fixes have been implemented as well! And the first area that's getting re-developed is The Creepy Keep!
