Is there a keyboard short cut (besides the Enter key) to switch between the characters? In other words, if I wanted to quickly switch between Stinky and Peegue without cycling through Loof and Qookie, how would I do it?

Don't think you can NMIMT85.
You'll have to do it the hard way

That sounds like a good idea for a simple feature for the new patch which I am sure there will be
Shift +1 Shift +2 etc

That sounds harder and more time consuming than pressing 'Enter'

Nah. No good for sticky situations.
If Stinky is 1, Loof is 2, Qookie is 3, and Peegue is 4 and you have to change quickly from Stinky to Peegue, it's easier to press 'Enter' three times than remember what number Peegue is and press that number.
Don't you agree?

How about a compromise, an option to set the keys to your liking
