Hardest Level in WA Trilogy

Post by gottfriedjacob5 » Wed Jul 14, 2021 11:19 pm

I wanted to ask what in your opinion is the hardest level in the Wonderland Adventures Trilogy. For me it is "Into the Deep Dark Cave" from MOFI. MOFI has the most hard levels of the trilogy, but this one takes the cake.

I haven't completed PotZ yet, so there might be a tougher level there, but so far the toughest level for me was The Lost Ice Temple. I got so confused on that level and ended up struggling for hours to complete it. :stinkyconfused:

"The Lost Ice Temple" was a tricky one. All but one of the my top 5 hardest levels in the trilogy come from MOFI. The other comes from POTZ. And "The Lost Ice Temple" was on that list.

"The Lost Ice Temple"

Also not using the traditional way XD

I guess for 100% speedrun you have no choice to use the normal way.

I think the finale of PotZ might be even harder than Lost Ice Temple but not sure

"Escape" is by FAR the hardest level in POTZ. It is not even a question. But the hardest level in the trilogy? I think that "Into The Deep Dark Cave" and "The Lost Ice Temple" might be harder than it. But "Escape" is without a doubt the hardest level in POTZ.

MOFI has the overall hardest levels without a doubt. The first two levels that caused me problems were Lots of Locks and The Corridor. Don't Leave Me Behind is also a very advanced level, and might just be the hardest one. Limited Access is another hard one, the Scritter puzzle in particular can be very frustrating. But I didn't have much trouble with The Lost Ice Temple, it's actually somewhat straightforward once you figure out the fundamentals. And as I've mentioned in the worst levels thread, Mystery Island is definitely the most frustrating and "hardest" level simply by the amount of time effort needed to solve it.

The only level I found genuinely difficult in POTZ was Star Crossing, and as I've mentioned in the other thread, it's mostly due to its trial and error factor more than anything else.

As for WA, the game is overall very easy and minus frustrating elements (Wakka Wakka 2, The Pyramid for example), none of the levels are particularly difficult.

mystery island has a logic, to use the gates to know where you are. I always open all 4 gates at the spawn point.

Problem is, as was mentioned on another thread I think, you have trap states/cycles in the level design which make this system unhelpful, you still have to guess, memorize, and restart.

It was a poor design choice imo to include such states. Because otherwise your strategy would work (and yes, I also do four gates down on the initial island).

How is Wakka Wakka 2 hard. The Pyramid used to give me and my dad lots of problems when we played together. I even remember his reaction when he learned the level was in the dark.

Wakka Wakka 2 sets you up against multiple fast chompers, so yes, it is harder than 3 which is just one really fast one. You can't just rely on teleporters, you have to plan for not getting cornered.

For me, the one level in the first WA, which i forgot about, was "Out of Sight" where the water covers the buttons, that one is a nightmare.

For me, this is an example of Mystery Island done right. I can just play with the buttons if memorizing them is too hard. So long as you have sound on, and good control of the wee stinkers.

also the mystery island level is easy when you know the directions, It's not hard at all, no consistent timings or whatsoever.

But if you don't know, it's trial and error, the worst kind of gameplay.

*So that's no replay value, but frustrating gameplay the first time. Not a well-designed level imo.

Removing trap states, and if possible somehow randomizing the arrows, would be a great way to make this level fun.

It's just one of those puzzles where it's not obvious, but the solution is easy to execute once you get the trick.

The thing is if i remember correctly, if you make one wrong move, the bridge at the end won't activate. Also, i just remembered Ice Flower Cave, which was also a hard level.

I have to go with "Into the Deep Dark Cave," and probably "The Lost Ice Temple" as well. MOFI in general took several months for me to beat compared to the original which took a few days and POTZ which was a couple weeks.

EDIT: Forgot about Limited Access - yes the scritter puzzle was a nightmare to figure out.

I'm surprised that many people have chosen "Into The Deep Dark Cave" as the hardest level. For me, that level was fairly easy to figure out, and definitely easier than quite a few of the MoFI adventures.

Part of the challenge for Into The Deep Dark cave is that, well, it is in the dark. Anyways, Rescue Mission B from POTZ was another difficult level that gave me a lot of trouble.

Any level that has you going back and forth between places, even within one room, can be challenging. You have to plan ahead to conserve resources.

The zapbots are by far the most annoying and dangerous enemies in the trilogy.

When i first saw the Zapbot one, Rescue Mission B, i thought that there was no way it could be as hard as it looked. It was though. I found it easiest to use the flowing to trap the zapbot and stand behind it so it kills the others. It is so satisfying when they start killing each other.
