New Level (adv) - Stow-on-the-Wold

Post by Liz Mayhew » Sat Feb 23, 2008 1:09 pm

416LIZM - Stow-on-the-Wold

Next in the Cotswold Village series. Using the same texture and houses as before. :D

It's a big level but there are lots of empty spaces!

Liz,

This was another fun and great looking level. I wasn't quite sure what to do in the kaboom area, but your signs helped and I made it to the exit.

Thanks,

Michelle

Phew, remember this recent level - "Sadism"?
well, I think you should swap names.

Finally made it (with all bonuses).

There is one annoying spot where chance is a factor: it's a pity to have to repeat getting there and failing for no good reason.

Anyway, it was fun!

Amnon - let me know where the chance factor comes in. I wasn't aware of it!

Fun level Liz, the courtyard looked very inviting. Had to do Loofie's part several times before I got it right. Liked the way you used the boomer. I enjoyed this one...thank you.

Holy moly Lizzie! Great stuff! First I kept fighting with the spheres and yellow boulders. Finally got it once by accident and then kept screwing up the chomper bit. Finally got Qookie's part down so well I could do it in about a minute 15 LOL!

Then that wretched boomer! Finally found a hiding spot so I could get where I wanted to go and then couldn't for the life of me figure out to get that guy where I wanted him and keep him there! Then that dim bulb in my head flickered and I got out with the gold!

Thanks Lizzie, and beautiful as always. Now back to that last one

Amnon, are you talking about the upper right corner being the chance area?

Those spheres certainly gave me fits and too many restarts! :D

A few more (fits and restarts) to work out the keg/box area but it did come together.

Thanks again Lizzie,

Yes, it is the upper right corner where chance comes in (for me at least).

:D :D :D Humdinger Liz, The boulder/sphere part was fantabulous, Loved it!
Setting up the bottie was a tad easier than your last level. The last room of course was quite devious, Yup! i let my helper in before I arranged everything just right.
Thanks for the level and the fun, Much appreciated. :D :D :D

Try the other direction and it will happen every time. :D

Strange about the upper right corner. When I was testing this level I tried making the boulder go clockwise or anti-clockwise and pushing the other boulder at different time intervals. The two always shattered.

Sorry it doesn't work for everyone, but like Keeks says - try the other direction. 8)

Counter-clockwise, one boulder remains, but which it is, I would say 50%-50%

Clockwise - most of the time I am left with BOTH balls rolling around.

Didn't work that way for me either. I did counter-clockwise every time and every time they busted. I didn't even know that they could stay rolling together

I did it clockwise and they broke every time - and I did it a lot! I think I could do the spheres/boulders with my eyes closed. The boxes and barrels gave me the most trouble, but finally figured it out and left my friend wandering around all by himself! I really like the chapel model. Thanks for a great fun time, Liz! :D

Glad you like the chapel Gen. Actually it's just a plain old house and I tinkered with the graphics. 8)

Did it, Lizzie. I even visit the chapel. Just a little fight with the kaboom.

The level look so beautiful.

Thanks Lizzie

Excellent level Lizzie - the look is so lovely! :D

Had a stinker with the yellow sphere's. Battled with the bottie trying to make it so much harder than it was! Really enjoyed the Boomer area :D

Onto the next - thanks so much for this series and a BIG CONGRATS for your mention in The Midnight Post - you are so creative! :D

Merci x :) x

I also have problems with the top right corner.
When I push the boulder clockwise I'll end with boulder and sphere circling.
When I push the boulder counterclockwise in 9 out of 10 tries the sphere is destroyed

Complaining seems to help...
Next time I played it I made it home 8) :D
Excellent level, Liz, and beautiful texture and houses.
There are some more Cotswold levels waiting for me...
Thanks :D

Post by kleef079 » Sat Mar 08, 2008 5:21 pm

I really need some help on this one guys,
I crossed the boulder part almost, but when I walk around the big hose, the only thing I can do is build a bridge with the last two boulders to get the bonuscoin.
After that I am totally stuck,

please help me out here!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the total walkthrough for anyone who needs it. Highlight to read.

WALKTHROUGH
1. Qookie goes into the top right room and removes the coins, making the boulder go round. Walk down and left. Push the boulder up and step left so that it returns to the right of Qookie, and push it right so the two boulders in the top right room smash together. Some people have experienced a problem with this. If the boulders don’t smash, start again and try making the first boulder roll in the opposite direction. (I have never once had the boulders not smash).
2. Go into the top right room before the yellow gates close.
3. From position shown in pic1 push sphere/boulder into water. Then push left sphere left. Keep standing inside the boulder so as not to get crushed. Push sphere up and push boulder into water. Push sphere through the yellow TP, and lower sphere into water. This completes the bridge and the chomper is after you. Grab the coin and stand right of the boulder. Push it to destroy the chomper. Push sphere left and step right & up, then push it in the water. Push the boulder down and repeat sphere action to finish the bridge. Collect coin.
4. Carefully get past the z-bot into the lower area and push the barrel down between the 2 boulders. Now push the wooden box up to the red X. The z-bot is diverted to blow the barrel and boulders. Collect coins and manoeuvre box up and back down to the water to get the bonus coin.
5. Go into lower area, collecting coin at left. Push boulder into water and the last boulder up to the sign, right, and down into the water to get the bonus. This activates the boulder generator. Push the remaining boulder onto the green button and exit.
6. Loof is now free. Go through black TP, wait for kaboom to pass 2 lower coins, collect them and quickly push the boulder right onto the blue button. Don’t destroy the kaboom. Step up to collect the last coin and go into the last room, avoiding the kaboom. He won’t enter because of the bridge tile.
7. From position shown in pic2 walk down and right to push barrel into water. Right box up. Walk back round and push right to block box. Left box up and leave it there – push that in water at end. Barrel into top water. Collect bonus off pink button. Walk to right side barrel and push into water. Push middle barrel down and left into the water. Push box into alcove, and top box onto pink button. Now collect the bonus off the white button and move the box to the wall above the white button. Push top box in water. Trap kaboom on white buttons. EXIT.

Lizzie, one thing
When I smash the boulders in the top right room, the yellow gates close.
I can easily make it to get to the boulders section (I guess the yellow boulders are called spheres right?)
but there is another yellow gate below the z-bot, which is impossible to reach in time, how did you solve this??

I did this level a bit differently but you don't want to smash those boulders.
