how long does it take for most of you to make a level
Hi, all!! I have played wonderland original, secret worlds and rtw. I have tried making my own levels but they get so tedious. On average how long does it take most of you to produce a new level...start to finish? Days? Hours? Mins? Lol. I ask because I've been looking in here the last few days and suddenly today there were a slew of new levels spit out. So I wondered if you guys had been working on them all week or took a lunch hour and popped a few out....

It really depends on how elaborate and long the level is, if you get Gamer's block (
) and if anything goes wrong in testing and you need to correct it. Sometimes I get struck by inspiration and make a level in 1 hour, other times I make half of a level, can't think of anything for the rest, keep on thinking untill tomorrow, and then get an idea. I've been working on a level since early today, but I thought that part of the elvel was pretty boring, so I redid most of the level. Then decided that that was also lame, and now I'm still thinking on what to do. I really hope that I get an
soon.

For me, I take a long time to get inspiration for my levels, but then when I do, I make the levles pretty fast.
Sometimes when I don't have access to Wonderland (for example, at school or on a trip), slews of ideas build up, and I produce them quickly one by one when my access to Wonderland is restored
Levels that take me a long time to make are the big epic ones, such as "Unknown world" or "Epic!", which are both my levels and both took a long time to think up.
That was a good question, thanks for asking
PS: long and tedious levels are fine with me
I just don't always complete them

My old sig-bar image broke but I'm still thanking Pauline and Janet forever for their art!

Hello haircuter! Welcome to the forum!
I have only made a few levels and most of those were kid's levels! I kind of had an idea of what I wanted the level to be like when I made mine. I would much rather play the level than make levels! If an inspiration hits me then I will try to make a level. Unfortunately so far the inspirations have been few and far between! Lucky for me we have so many ace level makers around here! Hope to see some of your creations too!

For me, the longest part is getting an idea. Usually I'm just fiddling with stuff to see how items work together. Sometimes I'm in a eye catching mood and have a whole floor plan that's symetrical and pretty and very empty. But once I get the basic idea of what I want done, it take a few hours to get it all working like I want. Then a couple more hours during the testing phase because I very rarely publish a puzzle withouth having someone text it first and the tester usually finds a hole or two that need patching. The last thing I can come up with is usually a name and I've had some puzzles where finding a name that fit (and wasn't in use by someone else) took as long to do as making the puzzle.

Great question !
I couldn't put a figure on the time I spend thinking about a level .. whilst driving the car, making tea, lying in bed .. I've even dreamt of ideas but too few actually work in practice
From opening the editor to posting I'd say 1-2 hours, 50% to build the puzzle then the same again trying different textures, adding trees, taking trees away, adding mushrooms, swapping them for flowers etc etc. A big milestone level would take me 4hrs+ to put together.
Sometimes I catch Editoritis and have been known to churn out 6 in one day - these days I get Levelmakers Block for up to a week ... very frustrating
I do think it's as much fun making as playing though ... A Great Hobby
