New Level- Uneven Ground

Post by k82994 » Tue Dec 05, 2006 5:42 pm

This is my first level so tell me if i'm posting wrong. It uses a texture called 'Unevenground' which is pretty much lush with a few changes for the level to look right. It also uses a model called 'Sunkenground' which you really need to see the level right. I wanted to make loof look like he was jumping out of a hole so i made this.

Hi k8 - or is it Kate? 8)

First of all:

WELCOME TO LEVEL MAKING!

I haven't had time to solve this level yet, but I have to say I'm very impressed with the models. The optical illusion of apparent change of height is amazing.

You're obviously going to be a great asset to the forum. :D

I'll get back to you when I've solved the level. And if I can't, I'll come crawling for help.
 :D

Welcome to Wonderland, Nathaniel. :D

"Uneven Ground" is an awesome magical experience!
Your world is filled with wonder and illusion!
So mystical was your landscape, that I must confess to peeking behind the curtain.

I wasn't able to play it out of the box.
Some of the model textures were not equally sized which gives my graphics card conniption fits.

If anyone else is having difficulty starting this amazing level,
I've attached a resized version for the model textures.

Thank you for allowing me to visit your wondrous land of invention!
Looking forward to your next masterpiece! :D

resize

Post by k82994 » Wed Dec 06, 2006 3:45 pm

So, you looked behind the currtent. Then you saw what a mess it was back there. That's partly because this was my first time with models and i couldn't get the sizes right without a bunch of flickering areas in the game when i tried to use them.

Thanks for the resizing. I'll try and learn milkshape better for next time. :)

I really liked the look of this level, very cool model!

This was certainly an exercise in misdirection and secret pathways! It took me an age to work out the red sphere technique and what button to push!

I did eventually get this all sorted out and our heroes made it home with gold!

Thanks for the challenge,
bob

What took him an age to work out, Took me two ages.
Excellent work. Thanks for the levels. :D :D :D

Spoiler

Post by k82994 » Tue Jan 02, 2007 2:57 pm

Uneven Ground Spoiler

1. Have Stinky jump on the trampolines until he lands on the island with the coin below the red sphere. He will be trapped and need Loof to help him get out.
2. Next take Loof and have him push the green sphere into the water.
3. Move Loof down to where the barrels are. You need to push the two barrels, against the wall, into the water next to the island with the green and pink buttons are. Do this by pushing them out into the middle and then up and on to the trampoline. The barrel will land on a conveyor belt hidden under the grass and plunge into the water to form a bridge. However, don’t use the bridge until you finish the next step.
4. Move Loof back down to where the second barrel was hiding the secret entrance. Inside is a chomper. Walk in remove the coin to release the chomper and run back to your bridge. The chomper will not be able to get you but will be there to help you later.
5. Have Loof maneuver around the water and then push the green button. DO NOT push the pink button it will release a stone which will get in the way.
6. Now bring Loof back up so he can jump on the trampolines. Maneuver him in the air so that he lands in the area near the red sphere. (the chomper should follow him down and blow up the barrels that are blocking Loof’s exit.)
7. Now, push the red sphere down and in a counter-clockwise circle. The other red sphere will move accordingly and every time it completes a circle it will push a green sphere into the water. Make sure you don’t push too many green spheres or you will push one into Stinky.
8. When the green sphere bridge is complete. Move Stinky up and have him walk right, pushing the box into the water. Don’t linger on the first box or you will get crushed. As quickly as possible move right across the box bridge and into the hidden passage way. Now, in the hidden passage move up and then right. Stinky will be transported to the area with the blue sphere.
9. Switch back to Loof. Have him push the red sphere right and then down (This is to move the sphere blocking the bonus coins) and then push the red sphere left. It should now be out of the way and loof can go up to the first room where he started and collect the coins.
10. Now switch back to Stinky. Have him move behind the blue sphere and push it down. It will jump over the wall and land in the water. Next move Stinky left. He will jump on hidden trampolines and land in a section where there are two ways to go. First walk left and he will be transported to an island where he can pick up a coin. Then bring him back through the transporter and walk him down into the second transporter. Have him pick up the coin and move him down again. He will be transported to another island, which Loof has to help him get off of.
10. Move Loof to the spot where the yellow and blue buttons are. Push the yellow button. You can push the blue button but it is unnecessary and doesn’t help at all.
11. Switch back to Stinky. And have him create a bridge to his right with the reflectors. (This takes careful maneuvering but is possible.) He can now exit, but you still have to make a second bridge for Loof to cross.
12. Have Loof push the yellow sphere near the yellow and blue buttons right and then down. Every time the yellow sphere completes a clockwise circle it will push a blue sphere into the water. Once the blue sphere bridge is complete make sure the yellow sphere blocking the bonus coins is pushed left so you can collect them.
13. And that is it, collect the coins and have Loof exit on the trampolines.

The scenery looked great with your texture and models.
The puzzle itself was a bit too tough for me, so I say thanks for the walkthrough. But it still was fun to play this masterpiece with your step-by-step solution :D
