I'm pretty sure I explained all this using signs in the game, so you don't have to read the rest unless you already tried and you don't understand.
To start the game:
Stand on the button to the right of where Stinky starts. After you step off it, the conveyor belts will start moving, causing the boulder to roll to the right.
To return the ball:
Step on the bottom brown button. The conveyors at the left will stop moving, and so will the steel box on top. If the boulder then hits the box, it will bounce back to the right. You successfully returned the ball!
What happens if you don't:
If either the box or the boulder are destroyed (they hit each other) then Stinky dies.
What happens if you return the ball 5 times:
The boulder will roll round and kill the Z-Bot, so the blue buttons will be unpressed. There is some logic off-screen to open the red gate when this happens, allowing you to finish the level.
The role of the yellow button:
It activates Easy Mode. In Easy Mode, you only need to return the ball 3 times to kill the Z-Bot, not 5. It is therefore easier.
But, the downside is you miss out on all 12 bonus points and so don't get a gold star. Complete the game in Hard Mode to get the bonus points and the star.
