You need a photo imaging program (like photoshop or paintshop pro),
I don't think you can resize (scale) in paint.
Or you can use an image resizer. Here is a tiny one that works well.
Go to:
http://www.vcsoftwares.com/ImRe.html
and look in the list for ImRe. It is free, easy to use and works well. I have it on my laptop for when I don't want to open Paint Shop Pro.

If you have to ask your parents permission to download a program from the internet, please do so first.

No you don't have to. BUT....if you don't, some people won't be able to see the custom textures, or models, or backgrounds that you make.

Certain graphics cards can only read the jpgs if they are 64x64, 128x128, 256x256 etc.

Midnight Synergy did post a patch that enables the game to default to the wood theme if the problem jpg is a texture or you see a pillar if the problem is with a model texture. So if the patch is installed, a player would still be able to play the level....But.....If a player has not seen the patch, and/or has not installed it, the error will cause the game to shut down.

So it is best to conform to the correct sizes, so no one will have a problem. :D
