Need help "Spirits of the Desert Wind"

I've tried again and again and I just can't find the button that opens the white gates in the lower part of the screen. The online solutions don't help, they just tellme I need to open them before I collect all the coins. I assume that means I have to roll the boulder onto the switch, but I just can't find it. Can anyone give me a helping hand? I'd appreciate it very much.

Gnashing my teeth and pulling out my hair in frustration.

If you do it wrong first and collect the coins you will come across it. Then remember where it is. There is a good reason for not collecting the coins first.

I tried it that way first and didn't notice it. I'll try it again. Let you know what happens. I hope I have enough hair left to comb after this!

And I have enough hair left to comb!

I thought I had tried that earlier, but I was playing with the sound off and didn't hear the gate opening. Next time I get stuck, I'll try turning the sound on.
