HELP ON SECRET WORLDS

Post by Lillian » Sat Jun 18, 2005 6:32 pm

Just a little thing that has been annoying me lately

A HUGE hoo-ha was made a while back about people "other than the authors" offering help to others asking for help on Secret Worlds levels. Goodness only knows why - help is help  The whole ridiculous episode caused a lot of upset to some folk.

Since this episode, having read through a lot of the stuff on the General Forum recently, I have noticed that the original authors hardly EVER post help to those asking for it! It always seems to be either Bear, Mette, Gen, Liz or one or two others who go out of their way to post help and welcomes. I see earlier that even a new person was trying to help someone.

That's all - thanks :D

Well said Lilliepad. Although I am one of those who haven't given much help. That could be because no-one wanted it that much.

Just for the record - any time a question is posed regarding one of my
levels, I always offer help on that level. Sometimes it is via PM.

Sorry if I've stepped on any toes. I know when I was active at an earlier time on this forum, it was accepted that the whole point of the forum was to help those who needed it. Granted, you shouldn't give a solution immediately after it has been posted, but a hint here and there has never been a problem. I never had a problem with people givng others help on any of my levels. I know they weren't as good or difficult as most, but some people needed a little nudge. And the idea of giving warnings before a solution is posted and printing it in white so you have to highlight to read is a very good one. I know I find nothing more frustrating than to be stuck on a level and not being able to complete it because I've gotten stuck in a "can't see the forest for the trees" mode. Let me say thank you to all those who give help when asked. You make it wonderful to come to the forum.
