Introducing Qookie help
So we finally meet Qookie, but why can't I get anywhere on this level? Can anyone help with figuring this level out? First rainbow coin is no problem, and all the hidden 250's are easy enough, but I can't get the 2nd rainbow coin (behind the house) nor can I get to the outlying areas. Aarrrrgh !!
Love the deluxe edition, and I'm sure it will continue to pose similar queries.... hehe

(SPOILER warning about the rainbow spirits and the coin in question)BINA wrote:You need help from the rainbowspirits, in order to get the rainbow coin - Only they can reach it...
(although I guess it's a little too late now...)
Actually, this level (you're talking about 3-1 right?) is not one where you need the rainbow spirit's help. To get the rainbow coin behind house, simply take one of the wooden boxes you'll encounter along the way, and push it into water (a little tricky because you also have to be careful with the rainbow spirits circling Qookie's house) at the spot at the lower left corner of the house.
As for the outlying areas, they are not reachable in level 3-1 by design. You'll re-encounter them in later levels, so just play on and see for yourself, and you'll understand why they'd put unreachable areas in a level (and the rationale behind it is actually quite brilliant, IMHO).

Well, thats how I did it!LinkyNStoof wrote: Actually, this level (you're talking about 3-1 right?) is not one where you need the rainbow spirit's help.
I used the box to guide them to the coin instead and while they collected it, I simply ran to the exit - why is that the wrong way?
Bina.
Edit: About the hidden arreas; forgot to say, that I suspected that it had something to do with the "secret" but after having read the thread on the gen. discussion, where there has been some complains about "spoiling" i didn't want to make that mistake - thats why I only gave a hint...

Don't get me wrong, there's no "wrong" or "right" way to solve a level, technically speaking. However, if memory serves, it's only on level 3-2 or later that the special ability of the rainbow spirits are revealed, so from a storyline point of view it seems that they did not intend the coins to be collected with the rainbow spirits on level 3-1, that you're not "supposed" to "know" about this at that point.BINA wrote:Well, thats how I did it! Of course, I suppose most people don't bother to play the levels sequentially so I guess the point is mote.

If I understand your method correctly, it's not that much different from mine in terms of movement, since to guide the spirits to the coin you'd basically be placing a wood box near the top-left corner of the house instead of bottom-left. It shouldn't be any much harder to do it either way.
