Have posted a couple times, but no introduction

Post by momtopetsonly » Fri Oct 14, 2005 7:14 am

Hi,
My name is Pat. I live in the Toledo, OH (USA) area. At the moment I do not have any pets because Nov. 13, 2004 I had to put my 15 year old dog down. She was my best friend and it is still difficult to see her pictures, etc. Then, July 9, 2005 my parakeet died - he was about 8 years old.

I have a webshots page that if any one wants to see some of my photos of not only my pets but other interests, please let me know. Also, I have a rainbowsbridge residency page for my Foxy and you are welcome to have that address as well, just ask.

If I am incorrect in thinking that I will be able to share these addresses to anyone that wants to see them, please advise me. I apologize ahead of time. :)

At the moment I am on disability after working for over 20 years with mentally and physically handicapped adults in a sheltered workshop. When/if I am able to get some online course work for computers, I may be able to get a job that will not involve physical activity.

But in the meantime I have become addicted to the Wonderland games. I first became familiar with the Wonderland Secret World. Then found this site to get the rest of the Wonderland series. I thoroughly enjoy the custom levels that are available. They are a challenge as well as sometimes simple to just relax. Thank you to all that have contributed.

Enough of me for now. Hope to get to know some of you as I learn/remember to come back to the discussion board. I get involved in the game itself and viola, several hours (yes, I mean hours!) have elapsed and I think, no wonder my "physical attribute that you sit upon" has gone numb!!!!!

Thanks for allowing me to rant and be silly,
Pat

Welcome Pat to Wonderland. Be silly all you want.
Maybe you will get RTWL and start making some levels also.

Hi Pat

WELCOME TO THE FORUM

Yes, time does fly in Wonderland - you'll have a great time here with all us nutters. The game is addictive, and being on the forum is addictive too. Forget about housework!

Sorry to hear about your pets - I have 2 dogs myself (had others before), and know how much it hurts to say goodbye to them. Maybe, when you feel ready, you'll get some more pets?

Thank you for the warm welcome. I do have all of the Wonderland series. I actually am doing better with the many of the custom levels in RTW than with the classic and deluxe levels. :D

I do want to get at least another bird. I have had a total of 5 parakeets in my life, including Budgie who died this summer. They are great to watch and they will greet me when I come home even if only in bird talk.

I would like to get another dog but at my present apartment the cost would be more than I can handle. Some due to the carpet needs to be changed and the floor sealed, but in order for that to happen I need to store my entire apartment for a day or two. Will wait and see how things go regarding a dog.

Until next wonderland break,
Pat

PS How do you get the individual pictures in your signature or body of message? There was a site I visited that allows use of their products in this forum - I found it while visiting another site from a message posted. But I can not figure out how to get them in profile.

Hi Pat

This is how you do it:

If you want an avatar, to appear in the left column under your name:
1 Click Profile at the top of the page.
2 At the foot of the Profile page you will see the Avatar control panel.
3 You can upload an image from your own hard disk
Or use one from Shorty and Obehave's website http://www.shortysanimationsandsigs.com/index.html
Or choose one from the gallery.
4 Click Submit - and there you go (hopefully).

If you want an animated signature to appear under your message:

You can only use an image from a website, you can't use anything from your own hard disk.

1 Find an animation you want (from a website which allows direct hyperlinks), right click on it and click Properties at the bottom of the list.
2 Highlight the URL (http etc...). And press CTRL C, to copy the address.
3 Now go to your Profile.
4 In the signature box, press CTRL V, to paste the address of your animation.
5 Before the address type Image
leaving no spaces between these and the address.
6 Click Submit

Hope this helps. :D

Thanks Liz,
But I have gone to that site before and I see the picture I want but can not figure out how to only get that picture. How do you choose from the page that has so many on it? Won't putting the url for that page cause the whole page to attempt to be use?

No Pat, it won't. Point the cursor arrow at the .gif you want, and right click the mouse. The properties you see will relate to that animation only, not the rest of the site.

If you try right clicking different animations you will see that they have different properties.

Try it and see - if it doesn't work, we can ask someone else.

Thanks Liz,
I never thought to right click. Duh!! Now though the message I get when I click submit is that it is too large. Do I have to only choose ones that fit the criteria or is there a way to temporarily change the size of the one you want to use?

Pat, I don't know whether you are looking for size for avator or sigs. This is from the Forum Rules at the top of each Forum:

(5) Other Files/Images
You are welcome to use an image in posts and in your signature or avatar. However, we ask that you do not over-use images. Remember that (i) they add to the size of the overall discussion board, and will slow it down over time, (ii) they are slow to download for users without high-speed internet connections, and (iii) they can affect the readability of threads if too many images are present.

The following rules are in effect:

a. Signature or Avatar Images
Please use either a signature image or an avatar image, not both. If you use
(i) an Avatar Image: this image/animation can be 120x120 pixels large. You may still use a single line of text, but no images or multi-line text for your signature.
(ii) a Signature Image: Please ensure that your signature image/animation are up to 120 pixels long (i.e. vertical). You are also limited to a single line of text before or after the image, but no avatar image or multi-line signature text.
(iii) no Image: if you use neither avatar nor signature image, your signature may be up to three lines of text long.

b. Images in Posts
Do not use more than one image in your post, and keep them on the smaller side for improved readability. The exception for this rule is the "Off-Topic" area of the forum. Here you may post several images and larger images in each post.

Hope this helps! :D

Welcome Pat, we all have a reason for being here I think, It is a nice place to meet fellow minded people who care about each other and give so many hours af fun and painfree relaxation. I only play levels but can say that it helps me to switch off from stressful everday life, and lets me be a kid again, only this time with a brain that works.
