I am still working on it. I have also been one Brr short but I am starting to think that my whole approach is wrong and that I need to find a whole new plan!!

Managed it at last!!! My old method was right, I was just hadn't been persistent enough in my attempts. So if any one wants a hint I can now provide advice :)

It all depends on how you got in there.
I had the cyan gate held down permanently whilst I did that section, so it was very easy to walk back out!

How did you do that?
I iced a spikey on the button, and could just make it through before the ice burst

It is possible to get the scritter back to the cyan button, so it is held down. If you need exact details on this I will post them, but it can be done using 8 Brr's

I made it to the scritter without using the teleporters, careful positioning of the transporters is required to get there

HOW did you do it? Where did you place your brr? Give more details please?
Cos I know I have to use a transporter.
When I put an ice piece after the turning button, go to there, step on the turning button a couple of times, the transporter is pointing in the right direction when I step on it, but then I won't go there.

You have one transporter in the right place Erwin, position the other one first so that you can slide back to it from the second. You will need to position it and then slide back to the main land before using the other one.

Just want to mention that it's possible to have more than 1 Brr left when you get to the area with the indigo and green buttons, which will make that section a lot easier:
Work out a way to move the left cyan transporter so that before it brings you to scritter island, it is placed two steps directly above the transporter rotation button (in other words, there's exactly one space of water in between the transporter and the button). You don't have to touch the right cyan transporter at all. You only need 4 Brrs, but you need to be at a certain position to make the 1st Brr.

How do you even get it there. I have tried for hours and can't figure it out.

1. Brr the water East of the rotate button. To do this, you need to be at the area near the yellow teleport, so that you're south enough to see the button onscreen (I think 2 steps East of it if I remember correctly).
2. Step on the left cyan transporter.
3. Step diagonal SW off the transporter onto the rotate button.
4. Brr the water NW of the button.
5. Step diagonal NE back onto the transporter which will now move left and stop directly N of the button.
6. Step onto the button and back onto the transporter, it'll go N.
7. Brr the water N of the button.
8. Step back onto the transporter, which will now stop at the desired position thanks to the Brr from step 7, but the transporter's facing up rather than left.
9. Go to the button again, this will put the transporter in the desired direction.
10. Redo the Brr for the water N of the button.
11. Now you can slide onto the transporter and it will bring you to scritter island.

Ok, cbloopy, love the hint, worked perfect. But how the heck do you get the gems. I found I had to freeze my crab in order to get thru the blue gate leaving on 3 brr's left and it wasn't enough to get the gems.

You're on the right track. Keep doing what you're doing, and when you get to the point when you think you're stuck, just wait and watch for half a minute or so and see how things unfold.

I followed your hint, cbloopy!

But I didn't get the coins. How do I get the coins and get to the star?

Sorry, I did it again. I meant the ones on the other side of the lake, near the ice troll.

Got it! :P
Erwin042, before you leave scritter island permanetly,
take transporter to coins, then back to island and preceed with the game.

How do you get the spikey on the cyan button & manage to freeze him there? I tried to use the scritter to direct him on there, but when I run round to stay close behind the spikey, the scritter runs away & the spikey ends up in the water.

PLEEEEEASE help - this is driving me nuts!! :?

You don't use the spikey, you use the scritter. Once you get him there, he stays. If the spikes go in the water it's okay.

But then how do you get the last 2 gates open? I can get the crab on one button, but what about the other?

freeze the crab on the first button, walk in, wait for crab to unfreeze, he goes to 2nd button, you go in collect gems and key, walk back out, and use key to open the first gate he was frozen on.
