Your Top 5 Favorite Games, Names, and Books

Post by MyNameIsKooky » Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:00 am

What are your top 5 favorites for...

-Video games (series?)
-Names
-Books (series?)

Here are mine...

Video games

1. Ratchet & Clank (Blowing stuff up never gets old! It's also hilarious at some points.)

2. Crash Bandicoot (The PS1 games were amazing, but when Naughty Dog sold the series off, it kind of began to stink...)

3. Sheep Raider / Sheep, Dog, 'n' Wolf (A GAME THAT ACTUALLY MAKES YOU THINK! It's a very original game, too.)

4. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (Loved it!)

5. Random Scooby Doo Games (I've played them over countless times.)

Names

1. Moron (I use this as my character's name when I play almost any game. The other characters would be like "Oh no! The blahblahs stole the whatchamajig! Quick! After them, Moron!")

2. Ralph (I don't know why, but Ralph is such a hilarious name.)

3. AAA (He always holds the high scores on arcade machines... Bah. Oh well, I think it's still a pretty cool name.)

4. Steve (Also a funny name... I guess.)

5. Reed Pants (WHAT KIND OF NAME IS THAT?!)

Books

1. The Maze Runner (AWESOOOME!!! I couldn't put any of the books down [yes, it's a trilogy]! Sadly, the third and final book isn't out yet. But if you're around age 13 or higher, START READING THE SERIES. NOW. I COMMAND YOU. I bet you'll love it!)

2. The Hunger Games (This was great, but I liked The Maze Runner series better. This series has lots of romance, but we do need our dose every now and then, right? The third and final book of The Hunger Games trilogy was cruddy, though. It's like Suzanne Collins, the author of The Hunger Games, got kind of lazy... Oh well, this series is still a good read.)

3. Wolf Brother (It's been a while since I read this series, so I don't remember much. It was good, though. I think there's 5 books. My favorite characters would probably be Rip and Rek - ALL HAIL OVERLY ENERGETIC RAVENS!)

984,756,098,467,509,864,098,567,409,586,704,986. Twilight (Don't read this. It's awful.)

Top 5 favorite games on my Steam wishlist

1. Half Life Source (wanting to try this after seeing the Freeman's Mind series)

2. Counter Strike Source (I want to play around those awesome maps made by j2)

3. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Platinum (It has alot of stuff to make a theme park than the normal RTC3 like waterpark and zoo stuff)

4. Lego Star Wars - the complete saga (LSW and LSW2 combined as well as some new stuff)

5. VVVVVV (A popular indie game. When finished the game if I had it, I'll create an entire fully detailed map of its whole overworld)

If you do end up getting the Source version, there's one thing to keep in mind: While it has an Auto-Save function, it's disabled by default. To fix it, make a text file, put "sv_autosave 1" (without quotes) in it, and save it as "autoexec.cfg" in HL:S's config folder.

Just a heads-up.

On-topic now;

Games

1) Minecraft (no explanation required here?)
2) Half-Life (best FPS ever, while HL2 looks better I find HL1 more fun)
3) Sonic Colors (oh my gosh a good Sonic game in 2010? no way)
4) Half-Life 2 (there are some parts I absolutely despise but still fun)
5) Left 4 Dead (I don't care about L4D2, I like the original better)

Names

1) Kyuu (came from an old IRC chatroom where everyone was spelling out the pronunciation of their usernames)
2) Qtheman (using this one for ages but I'm still not sure where the "Q" came from or what it means)

Can't think of any others for Names at the moment.

Books

1) Higurashi When They Cry (shut up it's a manga and it's awesome, mystery series are cool)
2) Maximum Ride (more mysteries, also kids with wings)
3) The Last Apprentice (horror series, the last book (supposedly) is out this year so I'm excited)
4) City of Ember (been ages since I read this series, but it's awesome)
5) Spiderwick Chronicles (not the movie, but the books, they're pretty awesome)

-9001) Twilight Saga (I've finished the whole series for some reason I'm not sure of, it's written horrendously, has an awful plot (or no plot at all even), and some of the stupidest characters I've ever seen in a book in general, so tl;dr - avoid at all costs, it's really bad)

2. Anything involving the word 'friend' (as a name for myself, I was MY.FRIENDS.FRIEND on another forum before it died, and I'm just plain Friend at one place)
3. Frank (funny)
4. Steve (almost as funny as Frank)
5. Bob (almost as funny as Steve)

You should pick "I am a moron", then it would say "Oh no! The blahblahs stole the whatchamajig! Quick! After them, I am a moron!".

Old, but did you already buy it? If not, I'd actually recommend buying the original version of Half-Life - the physics aren't as good, sure, but it's got multiplayer integrated, autosave is on by default, and there's an awesome co-op mod available for it as well as other mods.

Just my own 2 cents, however late they may be.

Games
1) Wonderland Adventures Series (Yay.)
2) Freelancer (A fun sandbox space-sim with a story you can follow too from 2003. Surprisingly good graphics and whatnot for the era.)
3) Lord of the Rings Online (Everyone's gotta have their MMORPG of choice. This happens to be mine; it's free, and Lord of the Rings is Lord of the Rings.)
4) Forever's End (A nice indie RPG; most of the unique elements in LOA are based of either this or LOTRO.)
5) Bookworm Adventures (Another RPG, only it's also a word game. Most of LOA's status ailments derive from this game.)

Names
1) Master Wonder Mage, or some derivative depending on username length maxes, symbols allowed, and whatnot. (Yeah, this forum is taking over my entire online life.)
2) Staaf (My IRL nicname)
3) John Sykes (My favorite pseudonym I throw at the internet.)

Movies
1) Les Miserables (Not necessarily just the movie version; I also like recordings of stage productions. 25th anniversary edition at the O2 arena yay.)
2) Lord of the Rings (Extended editons, of course.)
3) The Hobbit (What there is of it so far.)

Books
1) Lord of the Rings (Yes, LotR made it into 3 categories.)
2) Les Miserables (Yay Victor Hugo. Many great scenes that weren't in any stage production/movie.)
3) The Silmarillion (This book is, IMO, what elevates J. R. R. Tolkien high above the league of any other fantasy author. Not quite as readable as LotR, but still very interesting.)
4) Chronicles of Prydain (The first fantasy series I ever read. Yeah.)
5) The Children of Hurin (Yay, J. R. R. Tolkien nerdiness. Takes a chapter from the Silmarillion and expands it into a giant book. Pretty depressing, but I like it.)

GAMES
1: Runescape (I don't enjoy this as much as I did, but it has provided me with more entertainment than any other game to date)
2: Wonderland (My favorite game at the moment)
3: Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 (My all-time favorite in the "Tycoon" category. This game is just AWESOME)

NAMES:
1: Yot Yot5 (I love this name, but I have a friend who named HIS Minecraft user "Yot Yot5"! Thus, if you ever see somebody called "Yot Yot5" on Minecraft, IT IS NOT ME.)
2: Yotyot (Used in games where you can't use numbers in your username)
3: Zupi Lala (I like using this in random locations)

BOOKS
1: Holes (Funny, clever, and really emotional at times. It's written in a really "Different" style, but I love it.)
2: The Hunger Games (JUSE THE FIRST BOOK. Like MNIK, I don't care for the third book, but I also got really bored in the second)
3: The Hobbit ("Why not LOTR?", you may ask. The answer is quite honest and quite simple: I can't read Lord of the Rings. For some reason, I just fall asleep somewhere in the middle of Tom Bombadill's house)

TV SHOWS
1: Doctor Who (My all-time favorite. I've seen all the episodes since 2005)
2: Sherlock (Unlike Emerald, I thought the last two episodes in the second series were really good. I don't think ANYONE like the first episode, though.)
3: Merlin (I know it sucks, but it's one of those programs we switched on during our family gatherings, and it's been a family thing since!)

AND I'M TOO LAZY TO WRITE ANYTHING ELSE.

1. Pirate101 (I want a membership, gah!!!)
2. Runner 2 (now that it's out)
3. I'd put Wonderland here, but I'm kinda dead in it. Once WA3 comes out, everything'll change... I HOPE.

1. Perry Mallard
2. Jolindar
3. Wickery
9001. Nobody

UPDATED LIST:

Games:
Rayman Origins: THIS is the best multiplayer game I've ever played, beating NSMBW by a landslide.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door: I recently got this. It's even better than the original!
Pikmin: A unique, cute, and sometimes scary strategy game. It got me hooked on strategy games.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword: I love the bosses, and the swordplay feels kind of real.
Wonderland Adventures: This is impossible to keep off the list. It remains one of my favorite games, and shall for eternity.

Names:
Steve: For when you want to name a certain red pikmin (fans of Chuggaconroy will get this).
Kiss Me: Name your character in a game this, and you'll see why I like it.
Mystique: I heard this name somewhere and never forgot it. It sounds mysterious and powerful at the same time.
Joe: When you can't think of another name for a character.
LittleZbot: Duh

Books:
The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven: I usually don't read religious books, but this one is incredible and deserves to be read by everyone with a soul.
The Great Turkey Walk: It doesn't look like much at first, but it unfolds
into a really good book that makes you want to constantly keep reading.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: A classic that's pretty darn good.
Treasure Island: Another classic that's pretty darn good.
Goblin Secrets: I just read this. Surprisingly thrilling, and very well written, if short. I stayed up all night reading this.

TV Shows:
I don't really watch TV. However, I have found some good ones online:
Macgyver: You just can't go wrong with this.
Terra Nova: A short but gripping and realistic show about people that head into the past to correct the future.
Star Trek: The Next Generation: IMO, the best of the best. It did everything right.
MythBusters: A surprisingly interesting and entertaining educational show.
Stargate SG-1: The best Stargate show of all time.
Star Trek: Voyager: My second favorite Star Trek show.

Movies:
Life of Pi: Just watch it. If you don't, I might never forgive you.
Treasure Planet: A very good spin-off of Treasure Island. I actually prefer this over the original.
How to Train Your Dragon: Dreamwork's best.
Aliens in the Attic: It's a great movie to watch with your family or by itself. Hard to explain WHY it's good - it just is.
Star Trek: Generations: Bringing two classic Star Trek shows together was a brilliant idea.
Sammy_P wrote:BEAT MY SCORE OF 23.0 ON INTERMEDIATE RACE, FOOLS!
Eh, my score is 7.1. Beaten.

EDIT: My list has been changed in order of preference. The topmost is my favorite.
