Are you for real? I'M SO HAPPY.
I thought they were done with new GMs and they would stick with making Iphone games with it!

What are the new features?

Let's hope less glitches.

I haven't found any glitches, aside from a little blip in the Draw event that caused a glitch in Evil Toaster 4, but it was an easy fix.

There are lots of stupid tweaks. Now you'll have to press CTRL and right click to delete stuff and the mouse button pans around the room instead of scrolling through it. -.-
There are lots of neat little shortcuts, but it's not worth it for what I mentioned above - that makes everything feel clunky.
I think I'll wait until Game Maker 9 until I download another Game Maker version. I'm just so used to what I have now.

Here is a link to something on the Yoyo games forums talking about it's features. It said "bug fixes" in there, so I think I'm ok with the stupid tweaks Kooky mentioned.

Shoot.
My version of "windows framework" or whatever it's called isn't high eneugh.
Ah, whatever.

What's wrong with it?
I've got a newer version of framework.
It needs 2.0.50727 and I have 4.0.

For what you said here, I'll be wating for it too

It was too low...but I updated it.
Now it won't open because, apperently, the updater incountered a problem. I had 8.1.something, and they want me to get that something a tiny bit higher...I think. I said remind me later, not go ahead and break it.

And, I can't find where to use my pro code, even if it does decide to work.

If you haven't downloaded this yet, I don't think you should bother, it's pretty much just a waste of space.

I don't use Game Maker, but how is this surprising? It's not like it's a different program altogether, just an updated one.

Thanks for the idea. I did, but no luck.

I uninstalled it, and that was a stupid mistake, because it won't let me re-install it or delete the few files left.

I'm gonna go try re instaling it in another directory, and if that dosen't work, I'll try another computer.

Ok, I tried another directory. This is just plain stupid. It still won't work.

I want to punch a hole through my computer screen. If I were allowed to swear this post would be at least twice the size it is now.
I would try the other computer, but you know what? Vista is probaly too dang stupid to do anything well. Because vista sucks at evreything. I don't get why they called it a upgrade.
Yoyo games, you are a team of idiots.
I'm gonna get out of here before I freak out and end up throwing my monitor through the wall or something.

What about Windows 7 because I'm using it?
Posted: Wed Apr 20, 2011 9:51 pm
by Sammy_P
Windows 7 was built off of Vista, just most glitches are removed.

Windows 7 is basically the "sequel computer" to Vista.
Windows XP is the best, but I don't think they make those anymore.

I'm still running GM8 on windows 7. it's just not 8.1. It's working fine

Windows 7 fixes a huge amount of issues Windows XP has, and support for XP in general is getting dropped in a few years (2014, IIRC).
I already told you when you mentioned it before, if your computer's running slowly on 7, it's a problem with your computer, not 7 itself - which is what you were saying sounded like. I've had more problems with XP than I have with 7.
As for Vista - the problem was they were trying to do too much, without enough resources or time. It was rushed, leading to many of the problems it has - Windows 7 is more of an "as-it-was-meant-to-be" thing, I think - as it's an actual upgrade over XP as opposed to Vista (which decisively wasn't).

The problem is that much of the Windows 7 interface is dumbed down so much that it's wasting power.
I had to get a new PSU and GPU for my computer to run smoothly. Now it runs Minecraft at 60-200 FPS, but that's about what my XP had without such impressive hardware.
