I changed my operating system today and I found on a CD with some drivers an antivirus called McAfee.

It was on the original drivers cd for my computer and I didn't knew that XD

Anyway, I want to ask if it is a good antivirus or not.
Please response.

It's average. I don't like it, but if it's free I suppose it's OK.

I use AVG free. It works very well. :)

I've used AVG for maybe 2 years, and it rarely ever picks up any viruses, I wouldn't recommend it.

This is my second year using Mcafee and I say it works VERY well. The real-time scanning is great and removes anything that shouldn't be there.

McAfee can be a real resource hog. Installing it on a weaker machine can potentially slow things down to a crawl. Otherwise, from what I know, it's a good antivirus.

So THAT'S what is slowing down MOFI!

The combination of McAfee and the RelevantKnowledge spyware/adware/whatever that is somehow resistant to McAfee slows down all the systems in my computer class to an absolute CRAWL. The CPU usage can go to 100 at times and stay there for almost a whole minute.

I had RelevantKnowledge once. I easily disabled it via registry editing.

I command it to scan often and it seems to work pretty well.

The only Anti-Virus software I use is the Microsoft Security Essentials stuff. Considering my alternatives are Kaspersky (which isn't fantastic, though it did a good job of blocking viruses) and Norton (hint: no), I'm fine with this.

I've heard McAfee's good, though.

Yeah, but we don't have admin access on those machines. CMD works, but REGEDIT doesn't.

McAfee was a good utility back in the old days.
Today I would recommend Panda Cloud Antivirus .
It's free, has automatic updates, and uses minimal resources.

This is a figure of AV detection rate.

As you can see, McAfee's miss rate is about 1.5%. Panda is a bit lower than that.

I use no resident antivirus at all.

Instead I use Malwarebytes and HitMan Pro as a standby (non-active).

So Norton doesn't block viruses at all, I take it? :P

This post is just a joke, if anyone's wondering

EDIT: Accidental double-post
