Hi, I recently found this,...

For anyone that would love to find out about the complex math behind cryptography,

CrypTool 2.0 is a free ( learning tool ) program that teaches you all about it.

Cryptool covers every topic including, 15 classic Ciphers, 22 modern Ciphers, and lots of hash.

+ Classic Ciphers
+ Modern Ciphers
+ Steganography
+ Hash { a dish of diced or chopped meat and vegetables }
+ Cryptanalysis { is where you try to decipher others' secret codes, find the passkeys }

The CrypTool 2 program is self-updating, so, let it update, and then restart the software.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cryptool-ONLINE, shows about 30 classic ciphers:

Always found cryptography interesting, but was never a fan of solving anything more complex than a Caesar cipher. Seriously, I can't even solve a regular substitution cipher with pen and paper. I know the whole "probability" trick, but could never actually do it. Your links, however, might change that.

I can't solve a substitution cipher either. :)

I think that with practice, a person can invent a brand new cipher algorithm, beyond those already known.

When I have time, I'll read more into it.

It's incredibly easy to invent a cipher. It is extremely hard, however, to invent a cipher that's actually secure. :wink:

BTW - I can't register at the contest, the ReCaptcha doesn't show up. :( Oh well.
