Because the prequel wasn't normal enough.

... off to play.

That fire stinker was the scariest thing ever.
The button room was rather tedious, but I completed the adventure. :)

I can't help but think that mysterious stinker will become more significant to the plot in part 3.
And what exactly WAS that giant thing flying around the first wlv?

Got it done, but I can't find the gem. Where is it? :?

The button room is really evil, BTW, spent way too much time trying to figure out the "puzzle". Great little trick.

EDIT: AaaaaARGH, I figured it out, now I have to do the level again because you can't get the gem "after".

The flat coily becomes a collectible gem when you get close enough.

Yeap, I got that gem...

Kooky, this level is horrifying!

Now that I'm finished with it, I'm going to sleep until the sun rises on Wondertown.
I just hope that I can look at my friend's face the same way ever again...

Overall, the first "The End" left a bigger impact on me, overall, but that's probably simply because it was the first such adventure I played. This one is probably more well done and more surprising. The giant black chomper is likely to be the biggest visual shock, but the scariest part is having control taken away from you at a certain point.

Horrifying and strange, just as "The End" should be. BTW, I'm honoured that you're using the Uo soundscape as the scariest track. 8) Once could be a "just because" choice, but twice... it's no accident.

Yeah. You did a really great job with the Uo soundscape. It's ridiculously creepy, which I approve of.

Agreed. :D

And this adventure is 100% weird, which is a good thing. I feel really stupid for not investigating Command 4 further, because it's by far the most awesome command in the game (except for command 21, maybe.)

Thinking along those lines, when I first took a good listen to the music, the first thing I pictured was Mynameiskooky or Nobody creating some kind of haunted bathtub horror adventure. :|

Not sure why, that's just what I pictured.

MS originally wanted a somewhat less agressively creepy soundscape for Uo (the intention was less "terrifying" and more "mystical") but I replied with "Uo does not play nice". I remember using that for the first version as well (the creepy keep pitch/reverse/reverb edit) but the final soundscape is much more deserving of such a phrase.

The one that's behind a gate and shoots fire at you. The huge vertical thing that from a certain angle shows TEETH.

That wasn't a shock for me at all, I was expecting abnormally long things and I've kind of built a resistance by now to anything in this sort of level that is long and thin. The fire shadow scared me, not when it was a ghost, but when it started floating about in that really weird way. :o

The whole thing terrified me...

That was nice! I agree that it didn't have as much "impact" as the unexpected original, but it was still awesome.

The forest area might be one of the most brilliant creepy ideas implemented into WA.

Sorry to flatly contradict you, but I felt it had MORE impact in some ways. However, the original had a more linear design, giving a feeling of constant unknown ahead, while in this level the first wlv kept being returned to in a hub-like way. That might have reduced the effect a little, no matter how eerie a red lake area can be.

Sorry to flatly contradict you again, :P but I found that area to be the least creepy for some reason. It was more just strange for me, and very uncomfortable.

I found it to be the most comfortable place!

Trees, looking at you?

That's adorable, they're acting like wee scritters. :D

And if you state that they are scary, then you'll be terrified of the hub I'm working on...
