MOFI's Magic Mirror (Wop)

Post by jdl » Thu Mar 20, 2014 11:29 pm

Here's the Magic Mirror from MOFI. Thanks goes to Qloof for helping me. :D

The player can walk through the mirror so I suggest putting walls inside the mirror. The Glyph locations for the mirror are hard-coded into the game and cannot be changed. Here are the levels and coordinates:

Fire and Home Glyphs: Level 57, X=12, Y=29
Ice Glyph: Level 66, X=28, Y=24
Floing Glyph: Level 56, X=47, Y=54
Friend Glyph: Level 61, X=4, Y=24

How to set up the Glyphs:

When you select the Custom item, keep right clicking the Fn option until you see "Glyph" come up. After that, the texture number that the custom item uses will decide where the mirror leads to.

Texture 16 will always act like the Fire Glyph.
Texture 17 will always act like the Ice Glyph.
Texture 18 will always act like the Floing Glyph.
Texture 19 will always act like the Friend Glyph.
Texture 20 will always act like the Home Glyph.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that in order for the glyphs to take effect when used, there cannot be more than 4 tiles between the player and the front of the mirror.

Unfortunately I can't make models to save my life. I recommend looking around on model websites to see what you can find. :)

Does anyone know how to set this up? I try to put it in the editor, and when I launch the hub, the game crashes. :?

Well... I put the .wop into (Editor Location)/Data/Editor/ObjectPresets/Gates/. I'm not sure if that was the correct location, but in the editor, it shows the mirror as a red block, I suppose meaning that it can't find certain data of it.

Well the mirror, unless the player used a glyph, is a transparent object. That you can put against a wall or something.

Guys... I'm a complete idiot... The reason it did not work was because I forgot to put a title to the level... Well... Now, I wonder if it is possible to actually change the background of each glyph, (since I use custom-drawn glyphs).

The images the mirror displays once activated by a glyph can be changed, but it's not officially supported by the editor since they're located somewhere in the Editor\Data\ directory and have to be overwritten.

You can put it in one of the folders in Data\Editor\ObjectPresets. Alternatively you can create a folder in ObjectPresets just for these custom WOPs and put it in there.

Er, I'm trying to use the wop in an adventure, but it's not showing up. Am I doing something wrong? It worked fine in another adventure, I recall, but it won't be visible ingame. :?

It shows up red in the editor. You need to put it in a wall and then use a glyph near it in the adventure. Make sure the glyph has the glyph function, or else it won't work.

It is in the wall, but then it won't be visible there, either. It shows up as white when I enter the wlv. but then it fades out.

You need to use the glyphs. :P

Also, it's not supposed to be visible unless you use the glyphs.
