Is anyone running Norton Internet Security 2007?
If there is anyone running Norton Internet Security 2007, with or without the add-on pack, could you tell me if you're having trouble updating through LiveUpdate.
When I run LiveUpdate I can install everything except Symantec Security Software Update - SyKnapps Module. I've followed all the instructions to uninstall and resintall Norton and downloaded and installed the latest version of LiveUpdate. I got in touch with Norton and they said it was because I didn't have the add-on pack installed, and to install that and run LiveUpdate again. I have done that and it has made no difference. I am currently waiting for a response about it.
I am wondering if there is something wrong with the copy of Norton I bought on CD, but without someone else telling me if they are having the same problem I won't know. Obviously the version I have on CD won't be the latest one and there may have been a bug in it, although I would have thought it would update itself while downloading virus definitions and the like.
Is anyone out there techy enough to know what might be wrong?

The latest thing I tried was downloading and installing the latest version of the program. They told me that would definitely deal with the problem. Guess what? It didn't!!
What worries me is that they say Norton needs the SyKnapps Module to run properly, so am I protected or not? I really don't know. I haven't had any alerts but that could be cos the program isn't working as it should.
It's funny though that I wasn't having any problem at all until about 3 weeks ago when it decided it didn't want to install this particular update.
I'll let you know if I find a solution.

Pauline, I have Norton Internet Security and did a live update yesterday. It worked fine. I have had no problem at any time. My copy was downloaded over the net rather than by CD. About the alerts, I haven't had any for some time, but have observed they tend to happen in large numbers then nothing for awhile. Hope you get straighened out soon!

Hiya all, just noticed this thread. I'm a computer geek and since I had to give up the Fire and Rescue stuff that's all I do is fix computers....anyway. Norton's has been creating problems for many lately. Not sure if it's symantec's issue or some of the integration with microsoft. Over the last few months folks have been getting their money back from Symantec and uninstalling Nortons. Some have moved to McAfee and some to Avast as well as AVG....personally I use AVG which is free like Avast. Works great! I have a 13 year old and if anyone is gonna get a virus it would be him and all is well going on 8 months now. Google AVG Free and you'll get a grisoft page to download. Just my opinion from recent experiences of my customers.

I've been using Norton programs for 8 years now and never, ever had a problem. I didn't have a problem with this one until 3 weeks ago, but it is still working, it just won't update that certain thing.
I got up this morning though to find a Windows error message on my screen....
I've tried different programs and my sound seems to be working fine so I have no idea what to do about it if anything. My son suggested doing a system restore but that would uninstall the latest version of Norton I installed yesterday and I would have to do it all again.
I'm getting just a little bit fed up now.
I got up this morning though to find a Windows error message on my screen....
I found out by searching that it is part of the Realtek HD Audio package that came with the PC, and the part that was relocated was an ActiveX control. I thought at first it might have something to do with all the uninstalling and installing I've been doing with Norton, but I had a Windows Update installation just before shutdown last night so it may be that.RTHDCPL.EXE - Illegal System DLL Relocation.
The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\WINDOWS\System32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL.

Well At least I've got the latest thing sorted. The error message I got this morning is because of the Windows Security update that was installed last night. I have now istalled the Hotfix for it so all should be well with my Realtek Audio, although I won't know for sure until I restart my pc.
So if anyone else gets the same message you know what it is.
I sometimes wish I lived in an age before computers were invented and the most technical thing you had was a wringer on your wash tub.

LOL Popo I hear ya. Although I make my living now fixing computers I sure love the regular old paper and pencil route. If Microsoft didn't make such junk I'd be outta business.
I too have used Nortons for years. Well since they came out with virus protection in the old days of Windows 3.1. I can't really blame Symantec though, like I said earlier it's the Microsoft updates that are giving people the most problems. MS expects all the third party companies to keep up with them but ::sigh:: it's just not possible when MS doesn't release all the necessary information.
Seems like you have really liked your Norton's software and want to stick with it. Of course that's your choice. I just hope I gave you a few options to research and see if there is a viable option for you.
