Insane glitch in Legend of Zelda: Link to The Past

Post by Qloof234 » Fri Dec 12, 2008 5:49 am

I just found this while messing around in the game while talking to Tyteen on Skype.

This glitch is something you should do if you've finished the game, because Phase 2 of this glitch will make you have to turn the game off and start it again.

This really is the result of two glitches, so explanation time.
-Phase 1- wrote:World: Dark World
Area: Death Mountain (South-east ledge)
Required: Magic Mirror, Moon Pearl (optional)

Step 1: In the Dark World, use the Magic Mirror to teleport to the equivilant area in the Light World (there is a bridge near here).
Step 2: CAREFULLY move forward one or two pixels - this is the hard part though, don't worry - It'll get easier.
Step 3: Wait for magic to activate and teleport Link to the Dark World - If done right, he'll be slightly on the wall.
Step 4: Use mirror again - In Light World, move forward so only Link's back is touching the sparkles.
Step 5: Once magic has activated, push forward until Link jumps down. He'll be walking on the nothingness below.
Step 6: It doesn't matter if you use the mirror or not, but it'll be much easier if you're in the dark world here. Walk down and move as far to the left as you can (there are invisible walls, making it hard), and walk down. If done right, you'll be on a ledge in the dark world - but the graphics wil be VERY messed.
Step 7: Use the mirror to transport to the Light World, on the ledge.
Now that glitch is only leading into the massive error Nintendo made with the screen-scrolling in this game.

Step 2: Walk to the right - it will be easier because all invisible walls are surronded by dark blue, and the ground is still black.
Step 3: Go far enough to see the other ledge. Walk down off the screen.
Step 4: If done right, you'll be stuck between two screens!
Step 5: Move to the right.

If wanted done in the dark world, simply let the sparkles up on the ledge activate. Then do the above, but at one point you'll find a passage too narrow to go through. Stand as close as possible to it anduse the mirror, then walk away and back into them in the Light World.
I'll get up a YouTube video eventually, just thought I'd share it.

The result is that the screen will scroll to the right, and NEVER end. It's hilarious though, because Link will be up at the top of the screen the whole time.
