First off, what this has to do with Wonderland is beyond me. Second, if it does (which I doubt), it belongs in the Gen. Forum. And third, here is my opinion:

I LOVE sweet peas, especially if they are cooked only until still crunchy, with small white onions." Yum.

NOW - BACK to Wonderland

What exactly do you all mean by 'sweet peas' cos where I come from sweet peas are flowers. :?

Celery is very nice and okra is ok in curries.

Aubergine (egg plant) is like slugs!

We call them 'petit pois'. Yes, I know that's French.

I like the big Marrowfat peas that you make mushy peas from, especially straight from the pod. They're not sweet at all, more like beans.

Thread moved.

I actually really like peas, eggplant, and ochra!

I even like brussel sprouts, spinach, and asparagus!

You can't get me to touch oysters though. Oyster mushrooms, on the other hand, yum!

That's just plain gross Lillian!

Love eggplant (cooked island style - along with all the other island foods my wife cooks :D ).

Eat celery (under much protest - for all the good it does me - protesting that is - not too too bad if filled in with creamed cheese 8) ), loathe asparagus & corriander with a passion.

Spinach or buk choy or chinese cabbage is nice cooked up with onion, ginger, garlic (sounds like a leathal cocktail ), coconut milk & tuna - throw in a bit of Jasmine rice... yum!

... how did we get onto this topic? ...excuse me, I think I smell dinner cooking...

You're making me hungry Robbie, any chance of me popping over to yours for tea? :D

Liver is ok if it's either flash fried so it's still pink in the middle, or braised very slowly until it melts in the mouth. Minus all the rubbery bits of course. Chicken liver is best, that has no rubbery bits.

Celery is gorgeous filled with cream cheese, but I like it any way it comes, I could eat a whole head of it to myself (virtually no calories).

Well, let's see...Peas are great especially with rigatoni, butter and parmesan cheese...throw in some garlic and onions and I am in heaven.

Celery is okay but add some peanut butter and raisins...my niece loves that. We call it ants on a log. It is also very good with cream cheese.

Cherry cheesecake...well, how can you even rate that. YUMMY!!!

Oysters are incredible with cream cheese (raw) or wrapped in bacon.

Eggplant...hmmm...I will eat this grilled, raw, baked, etc...love it!

Liver...Only when my mom cooks it. A little pink in the center with mushroom and onion gravy.

Now, brussel sprouts...I am known amongst my friends for how I prepare it. Onion, garlic, little butter and olive oil, add some Ice wine and simmer until wine is almost evaporated, salt and pepper to taste.

Asparagus...with pignola nuts and garlic (of course) salt, pepper and olive oil...baked...Yummy!

And I have to mention one of my absolute favorites...Fava Beans, in the early Spring, raw right out of the pod tossed with some olive oil...Absolute heaven on earth.

Okay, marinading a Roast Beef with a dry rub today for my darling :D Any suggestions on some side dishes to go. The marinade is
with fresh black peppercorns, GARLIC (of course), and a dry mustard based rub. Any suggestions for some different sides? I just thought someone might have something interesting...Instead of the same old beans, or salad.

Lori :D

PS: He leaves for the Daytona 500 tonight :( We will be having an early dinner.

Sounds like fun....we were hoping to go, but my Mother in Law is back in the hospital. So now we are planning on going to the race in Las Vegas in March (World of Outlaws are there that weekend also) and maybe the race in Phoenix in April. (So I can drop in on my Dad and sister, and babies) I enjoy going to the races for the incredible atmosphere and the awesome energy of the crowds. Nice warm places don't hurt either.

That's an interesting recipe, I will definitely try it.

For those that don't like spinach, you can do the same thing.

Buy a large can of chopped spinach and drain it REALLY well.
Melt butter in the frying pan and "fry" the spinach until it's nice and dry.
Beat 2 eaggs with salt & pepper and add to the spinach and sort of scramble it all together. Sounds strange, but is very good.

I'm glad to see that Wonderland has some NASCAR fans too! I love the company! Have been to the Daytona 500 and the Pepsi 400 - GREAT FUN! I've become a faithful watcher of both the Busch and Cup races.

JG, I'm sorry that you can't make the 500 this year. Maybe you all can come for the 400 in July. The weather now is perfect, in the low 70's. :D

I think I am going to try a mixture of both beans and spinach...I have both so why not? Thanks for the idea :D I have tried to make the pudding and I have failed miserably...

Regarding the races, I am not actually a fan but my husband and family are...My sister in-law and her husband live in Daytona and get VIP tickets every year...Andy has not missed it for several years now. Once I finish school I can go...We have the Winston Cup (actually the name changed didn't it...I think it is now the Nextel Cup)...It is only 20 minutes from my house...So, in August I am inundated with family and friends that go to the races. I usually stay home with the kids.

I prefer the horse races over cars...While my husband enjoys Nascar I prefer Saratoga Springs and never miss it :D
