Why doesn't half-life 2 work?

I can start the game and play for about 2 minutes before it crashes.

Here are my specs:

Operating system: XP
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6570 @ 2. 10GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2042MB RAM
Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330

does anyone know why it doesn't work? :?
