The only way I can describe discussion is that it's discussing stuff, but note that MS probably wouldn't have named this forum Debate Board.Marinus wrote:Well, I thought a discussion is a talking where people don't agree with each other, and try to give reasons why they are right and the other one not.
Do you have another definition of the word "discussion"?
Languages you speak? BTW, NFG :3
i should change my signature to be rude to people who hate pictures of valves
Well, I looked it up in several dictionaries and that is not what it said. However, no matter which of our definitions is/are (I'm not sure if it is "is" or "are") right, this technically is a discussion now.Marinus wrote:Well, I thought a discussion is a talking where people don't agree with each other, and try to give reasons why they are right and the other one not.

In Dutch (which is actually my language) are the same two words: "discussie" and "debat", but what's the difference between those two words?Nobody wrote:The only way I can describe discussion is that it's discussing stuff, but note that MS probably wouldn't have named this forum Debate Board.
BB, I did not look it up in a dictionary, so.. do your dictionaries say that just telling something is a discussion?
Yes, I agree, it's a discussion now. Not one about languages, but one about discussions. (Since this is a discussion board, it shouldn't be a big problem though

Maybe I don't know the definitions correctly of some of the words inside the defintions of discussion. And, looking more closely, by some of the definitions, you're right. But technically, it is partually a discussion by these definitions, for some users have responded to each other. But mainly, it isn't a discussion by these definitions.Marinus wrote:BB, I did not look it up in a dictionary, so.. do your dictionaries say that just telling something is a discussion?

Languages spoken
I'm learning to Sp33k 1337 thanks to its
mention on this forum, but I'm still a n00b!
When I was younger (decades ago) I did
well in French and Spanish classes, but
now it has all been forgotten, and currently
I only speak English.
