Help on PayPal bookstores.
Help on PayPal bookstores.
Hi all,
I recently got a PayPal account, and since my local bank can't seem to figure out how to recieve electronic funds, I have decided to buy books for the money on my paypal account. Does any of you know an online bookstore that accepts PayPal payments, ships international and sells new books?
I know this isn't a forum for PayPal discussions, but since I don't know any other U.S residents, I figured I would ask anyway. I hope someone can help me.
Thanks.
Mette
P.S. I am especially looking for "The Dark Tower" series by Stephen King.

Mette,
I've been using PayPal for a few years now, and I have purchased internationally, and I have sold internationally. It works quite well, particularly where PayPal will automatically calculate the exchange rate for you. Is that your primary concern?
If I can help with any specifics, feel free to PM me.

Hi Mette,
I use a site to purchase all of my books and I sell all of my books that I no longer need. When you are a duel major the books tend to be plentiful
I saved over $100 on one of my nursing books a few weeks ago...In the campus store it was $138.95, and Barnes and Noble had it for $122.95, I purchased it on line for $32.95. Now if that is not a savings I don't know what is. The only thing wrong with it was one page with pink highlighting. I don't mind that!!!
The site that I use is a sister company to Ebay. It is called Half.com...I have a Pay pal account and have never had a problem.
Let me know if this helps

Hi all,
I'm bringing this one to the top to tell you all, that I finally received my books today.
The bookstore has been very friendly, but they have also made some muck-ups along the way
. The shiping was supposed to done be in 3-10 days, but as you can see it has taken quite longer time than that.
I have no idea if this is due to the fact that I live outside the US or not
, but since I've recommended this particular bookstore above, I feel obligated to share my experience with you. It is of course completely up to you whether you want to shop there or not.
A big warning to fellow Danish (and possible anyone in the EU) forumites:
Be sure to check with your Customs Office before purchasing large amounts of books (or anything else) from outside the EU. You may run the risk of having to pay import tax even if you get the books sent to you as a gift. If the value is more than 340 DKR you still have to pay import tax (25% of the value of the gift). Moreover The Danish Customs Office does not accept any packages coming from a buisness/company as being gifts. Packages that are not gifts will allways be subjected to import tax.
This is well worth checking out before you buy (as I didn't do, and consequently had to pay the annoying (and expensive) import tax) and taking any import tax into consideration when you calculate what it'll eventually cost you.
If I'm not active on the forum for awhile, it's only because I have 9 brand new books to read, and I tend to get caught up in that. I'll keep checking in on a daily basis, but I'm not sure I'll get much playing or levelmaking done.
