I survived

Post by laura n. » Wed Jul 12, 2006 5:17 pm

Monday, we had really bad storms come through here, It was raining so hard I couldn't see out my windows. ( some areas got 9 inches  ) The wind was so strong it uprooted the gazebo in my yard and planted it on top Emilys' trampoline, smashing the gazebo to bits & bending the metal poles that secure the saftey net around the trampoline. I had to go collect my patio furniture from all the over neighborhood, (so did the rest of the neighbors). Some neighbors garage doors were damaged from flying patio furniture & tree limbs that broke off, a few had roof & siding damage, but that's about as serious as it got. THANK GOD :D
The worst... my internet connection was blown away with the wind,  it was finally repaired today. :D I've been lost without it, it was dreadful not being able to get on line.

Today all is well with the world, the debris is all cleared away, the grass is green, the humidity levels are high & all the rain brought the June Bugs out,   so it's probably a blessing my gazebo is smashed to bits, as I don't enjoy these nasty flying dive bombers, my days relaxing outdoors are over as long as these flying menaces are invading the world, unless of course I could sit there with a blow torch & fry the little suckers right out of the air.
hmmm ... now I wonder where hubby put that torch

:D :D :D Glad you made it Laura, I know how the wind can just come up like that, Just today we had a big wind come in, it wasn't as bad as yours but it did blow my Malibu light covers off and the patio furniture cushions did take flight,
Its these rain/wind storms that I fear for the tornadoes that they might produce, Thankfully they leave as fast as they come. :D :D :D

Laura and Kiki ~ glad you survived!!

We have had less than 6 inches of rain here so far this year but other parts of Texas have had MAJOR flooding!!

Sigh.............I would really enjoy a good storm. The other day the wind started blowing and we could see the clouds gathering. I could smell the rain ~~~~~ and unfortunately, that was it!!!

Glad everything turned out ok.

Sue, you can certainly have some of the rain storms that have come through here the last few days, the humidity is just about unbearable, I shall have to grow gills if I wish to spent anytime outside.

Hey Keeks - don't forget to hold onto your hollyhocks next time

Sue - if you come over to England - it is always raining - you'd soon get fed up with it

The entrance to the world famous Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington reads "Thou shall fly without wings" OK! That's true for horses, But I can see where it can be true for anybody caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'd take the storms instead of the heat. We had a fuse blow on our ac and it got hot inside. I was glad when the rain came that night and helped to cool things down. Glad to know everything's alright and you guys didn't have major damage from the storms.
If you want to be somebody, if you want to go somewhere, you have to wake up and pay attention.

Unfortunately we have the heat and the humidity, The storms have not helped that part, I can't imagine not having AC  I don't know how those pioneers did it and wearing the full clothing of the day.  :D

So do we Kiki, it's 6:00 pm and 93 degrees outside with 80% humidity.Image

It's days like this I wish I was back in Colorado, at least I could escape to the mountains for some cooler weather.
