One bad thing and one good thing happened to me today.
Bad: I did a Bullion Mint with some other Toons, one of whom didn't have chat. The chatless Toon insisted on not going into battles with us, and he went into the Supervisor when I was eating dinner. I was too late for the battle by about a minute. I didn't get anything.
Good: I went to Barnacle Boulevard hoping to catch the Devil Ray- that's the place someone with a Steel rod is most likely to find it. I didn't catch it, but I did get the Holey Mackerel instead.

I finished my first Stage Four task and accepted one for a 250 Jellybean jar. I also got a 3 point Laff boost and have broken 100 Laff.
My remaining Stage Four tasks:
1 point Laff boost: Defeat 26 more level 7+ Cogs in Cashbot HQ
2 point Laff boost: Defeat 300 more Cogs
3 point Laff boost: Defeat 200 more Cogs (irony at work)

The third option is the one I went with. My final Stage Four task is to defeat 80 Robber Barons. With the cycle I'm doing right now, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Technically, that's one gag space for every Baron I defeat (although I bet I'll be using more than 80 gags in the process.)
BTW I finally decided I need a new avatar, and I'd like it to be something Toontown-related. Does anyone have anything?

Disney just released a fact sheet (click me) and here are some coming updates in 2010.
New & amazing expansions for 2010
• Toontown is coming alive as fire hydrants, garbage cans, and boxes decide to get into the action
This probably only means talking boxes and etc, but who knows?
• Sidewalk props pitch in to help Toons in battle by giving gags an extra boost & cheering them on
• Later this year, the Cogs will unleash something big… their sinister new office buildings, Cog-Dominiums

As for the random stuff cheering you on, I guess they would be pretty useless outside of the streets since you won't likely have a random inanimate object making it into a Cogboss room.

Emerald, haven't you done Omegas before? I was almost 70 Laff, you were OVER 100, there was an 80, and your friend was 65.
102 + 80 + 69 + 65 = 306 Laff in total (I think). Also at least most of us had Toon-up, Lure, and Sound gags. (I have no group and you have no Big Magnet, but still). Also no 12s appear until the end, as the Boss has to be higher level then all other Cogs in the building. 9s would also sometimes appear in Omegas. In a Bullion Mint there would be several 12s, and no 9s. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I think we had a chance.

Actually, I have done Omegas before, but the three other Toons with me were all over 100 Laff and had most of their gags maxed. My experience with the top floor of an Omega is that the boss is always ALONE, which makes him easy to beat, but after that two waves of four hard Cogs come in.
Anyway, last night before bed I spent an hour on it and managed to crack the promotion code (i.e. the rule of how many Merits/Cogbucks/Notices/Options/whatever are needed for each promotion.)
Just so you don't get confused in my table:
"Level" refers to the row number and has no connection to the level of the Cog type.
"Increment" refers to the five base numbers in each level. They are marked as 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
"Class" refers to the column of the Cog on the Cog Gallery and is denoted by letters instead of numbers (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H.)
"Sub-Increment" refers to the extra five increments that occur in Class H promotions but not anywhere else. They are marked as 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, and 4.5.
"Anomaly" refers to the yet-to-come fifth type of promotions for the fifth Cogboss.
"Credit" refers to the Anomaly eqivalent of Merits.
Levels 00 and 0 are imaginary levels needed to fit the formula into levels 1 and 2.

So the columns were Fibonacci-like as well, after all. But the rule wouldn't work for levels 1 and 2, normally, because they have less than 2 levels behind them.
I came to the conclusion that there had to be two extra rows behind Level 1 that made the equation work, but didn't follow the equation themselves:
