Hi everyone, we're back. Well, I am anyway. I haven't heard from Mo yet so don't know if she's home or still flying over the Atlantic.
The holiday had good bits and bad bits and even badder bits.
The hotel was really good, really big rooms with a sea view. We had loads of room because there was hardly anyone there. The breakfast and evening meal in the restaurant left a lot to be desired. There was hardly any choice and it was almost cold and virtually tasteless. There was a microwave to heat things up, but you don't want to have to start doing that. As the week went on the choice got less and less, it was the last week of the season and as people kept leaving there were less and less in the hotel. There were just 65 guests at the end so the buffet was minute. They did make fresh pancakes (crepes) every morning though so I stuffed myself with them with honey drizzled over them. John got withdrawal symptoms from having no steak.
The weather was much better than I expected and I did get some sunbathing done. Didn't go down onto the beach though cos they had cleared all the sun beds and umbrellas away for the winter. There was a market running the full length of the promenade selling loads of fake designer gear. I resisted the temptation to fill my suitcases with it though.
Talking of suitcases, ours got ruined on the way there. We took one big one, and when we got it off the carousel it had cracks and holes all over it. We had to buy two small ones to come home with. It was a new suitcase too, we used it for the first time in May on the cruise. We bought that one to replace one that got ruined last year. Someone doesn't like us obviously.
Then to add insult to injury, we both got accused of pinching drinks and sweets from the mini bar in the rooms. We tried to argue the point, especially as Mo had found two rings in the safe and handed them in at reception, we said why would be be honest enough to hand in the rings yet pinch two cans of iced coffee and a packet of sweets each. The girl at reception said that if we didn't pay for them then she would have it stopped from her wages. Nev felt sorry for her and paid it, but he didn't leave the tip he was going to leave so they lost out there. I'd like to know how many people get conned this way.
All in all, it's not somewhere I will be going again.
It's so nice to be home.
