I just sent everyone that I have on my list a PM with the e-mail address to send your pictures to. I'm not sure when we have decided the due date is. No rush on my end, just figured I'd get people rolling.
I know a few people didn't want to say what we all looked like but were willing to send their picture so if you though you want to share you picture and I missed you please PM me and let me know.

Again I will only send the webpage to those that send me their picture to make things fair all around. UInless of course the majority thinks votes otherwise.

Can't wait to see all you beautiful people.

Jen

PS - I guess I better find a picture of me.

Your laughing!?! I've peed myself so many times over I had to buy Extra Absorbant!

The really funny part is...I wasn't technically moving at the time...not forward anyway, just kind of tilting sideways.   Oh look, I need another Depends     When you stop "sympathizing", can you hand me another undergarment? :?

I'm afraid that I'm more of the "steeplechase" variety than the "Once around the park and then home for tea" crowd.

Speed Kills! I should know, it certainly finished off that poor little pine tree! *Kidding! The tree was in better shape than I was at the end of the day!*

Thanks Jen,

All guesses and pictures should be sent in by Saturday 15th May.

This gives malcdelsol some time to get sorted out, three days anyway!

When we have finished guessing the actual pictures, that's when the
scoring starts.

1 point for each correct guess, 10 points for picking the right picture.

To be fair to Jen, 2 ponts for each correct guess.

We will have to pick ourselves out, using anyone at all.
It would be too easy otherwise, particularly for the last person voting.
All they would have to do is, look at who has been missed and know it's
that person.

I had thought about secret voting but, I think it takes some of the fun out of it.

Questions and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks to all that have given their input so far.

Look forward to hearing from the remainder.

Robbie, how do you know which one to wave at?

cheers

Maureen. :D

Jersey's Turn

Post by Jersey » Thu May 06, 2004 3:19 am

Now that the time has come for me to reveal my ideas about my Wonderland friends, I’m really nervous! But, here goes nothin’!

DiscGolfer

At a party, he wanders around the room chatting with everyone, from the party animals to the wallflowers. He’s outgoing, but I think also a little reserved, using his wit to cover any insecurity he may feel around strangers. He handles his stress by working through it, and taking care of those around him. He’s a good teacher, who enjoys his subject, and challenges his students to achieve higher grades…not to make his teaching skills stand out during reviews, but because he wants his students to feel accomplished.

I picture a good-looking man in his early 40’s, a little grey around the sideburns, which sets off the twinkle in his hazel eyes. When he glances in the mirror, he wonders if he should dye the specks of grey in his light brown hair, but reconsiders because he doesn’t want others to think he’s vain. His waist has thickened a little, but his shoulders and butt are just as trim as he was in his youth.

Dianna

Here’s a lady that makes sure everyone has a drink and something to nibble on at the party. She’s a little like me in that she prefers to putter around the kitchen, chatting with whoever comes in. She’s a trifle reserved, but has a warm friendly smile and a sparkle in her brown eyes when someone says something amusing. She doesn’t laugh out loud very often, but she does chuckle when she’s heard something funny. She loves her friends dearly, and is a real bear when someone threatens her family.

She’s more comfortable in her baggy sweatshirts, covering what she considers a heavy frame, but is more curvy then heavy. When she dresses up, she wears red only when she’s feeling daring, otherwise, its dark colours, tidy blouses and pleated pants. She wears her dark brown hair short, and occasionally feels daring enough to have her hairdresser toss in a few highlights for a special occasion. She wears a thin gold chain all the time, with a small cross that she received from her parents for her 16th . Her earrings are usually small and plain, gold hoops or pearls. Her eyes are light brown, but in certain lights they almost appear hazel.

Robbie

This bloke hasn’t had chance to exchange posts with me, and he hasn’t been around much so I don’t really have clear picture of him, I can only guess. Edited – I just read thru his post in the Competition…He’s a comedic flirt! (BTW Robbie, I’ve got a weeks’ worth of ironing that needs to be done…) :D

He’s a young guy, in his late 20’s early 30’s, with very young children (toddlers). He likes to be outside, so he’s tanned and fit. His brown hair is nearly blonde from the sun, and he has tiny lines around his brown eyes from squinting. He likes to point out the ‘Roos and Koala Bears to his kiddies, as he carries them around on his shoulders one at a time.

Davimad

She’s a no nonsense woman who likes things to be organized, and doesn’t hold with foolishness, but she likes a good laugh and a funny joke. She’s a real softy with her puppies too, scolding but trying not to laugh when they chew on a slipper. When someone tics her off, she’ll give them “the look”, but is otherwise pretty reserved with her temper. She enjoys spending time with her family, and isn’t the sort to be lazy. Always works hard. I picture a garden in her backyard that she keeps in immaculate condition, and knows nearly to the day when each of the variety of flowers will bloom. She believes in giving credit where credit is due, and isn’t shy about calling someone out for something stupid.

A handsome woman, she wears her salt and pepper brown hair in a neat bob, tucking it behind her ears when she’s concentrating on something. She wears just enough makeup to cover the freckles she never lost from her youth, with light coral-coloured lipstick and a hint of blush. Her steely blue eyes twinkle behind her nearly invisible bifocals when she’s amused. At 53, she’s young at heart, preferring the sound of children’s laughter to the harsh noise of the local pub. She prefers jazz and easy listening to the raucous sound of pop and hip hop, and likes to kick up her heels once in a while. She keeps a professional dish of mints on her desk at the office for her visitors, but hides a bag of chocolate toffees in her drawer for when she’s feeling a little mischievous. At lunchtime, she can be found reading a modern day mystery while eating her sandwich in the park.

Ol’gramma

Now this lady is an eye catcher! She doesn’t hold with granny clothes, but instead likes to wear loosely draped clothes in bright colours. Her house is dark brick with a taupe and beige painted interior. She keeps decorative dinner plates hanging on the walls in her dining room, and her best china shows signs of wear from all the times she’s used it. Her kitchen is as neat as a pin, but her coffee pot is always perking on the counter, and she keeps a set of mugs handy for company. Her living room is nearly packed with family photos, and she keeps memory boxes filled with mementos from her children’s youth.

Her grandkids love to visit, ‘cause she always has a stash of candies in the cupboard. Her hugs smell like herbal soap, and linseed oil from her painting studio over the garage. This “little old lady” can be found on nearly any of the scary rides when the carnival comes to town, and can always be counted on to buy cotton candy and popcorn. She wears her white blonde hair short, with spikes on top, and little curls just in front of her ears. Her green eyes are always shining with some inner joke. Her delicate complexion is highlighted with just enough wrinkles to show she’s lived, loved and laughed. She’s not heavy, but is concerned about her weight, so she eats carefully, watching the fat and cholesterol, rather than the calories.

Janetgalle

This lady is friendly with everyone, but is choosy whom she lets close to her. She keeps a variety of mugs and cups in her cupboard that “belong” to individual guests. Her special mug says #1 Mom and the print is nearly worn off from use. A busy mom, her kitchen isn’t always the tidiest, but that’s ‘cause she doesn’t like to waste time washing dishes when everyone is around. Dinner is usually a noisy affair, with lots of good home cooking, and leftovers for lunch the next day. When things get hectic, she buys take-out, remembering who doesn’t like pickles, and who likes extra ketchup.

She’s a social person, and always has time for a friend in need. She doesn’t like to ask for help when things get tough, though. Because she’s always juggling family and work, she wears her long honey-brown hair pulled into a neat braid, and passes on the makeup, except for special occasions. Her jewellery is simple; a wedding band and “mother’s ring” that she got for Mother’s Day. She prefers earth tones, and sensible shoes, and keeps a pair of cozy pyjamas and a Danielle Steele novel in her drawer for when she’s feeling under the weather. A little on the plump side, her warm hugs are always a comfort.

Eeyore31

A quiet little lady, she keeps friends for life. Her favourite past time (other than creating fun and challenging levels for Wonderland) is curling up with a good romance novel (nothing too mushy or sexy) after a long hard day at work. She’s organized, and can find a lost sock quicker than it takes to loose it.

She has dark brown hair and soft brown eyes that always look past the exterior. She has a big heart, and an even bigger smile. Shy, because she’s short and stocky, she hides behind her glasses and baggy clothes, but she shouldn’t…she may not be a supermodel, but with her winning smile and charmingly shy tilt of the head, she’s a knockout! She’s the quiet one in the family, letting the rest stand in the spot light while she hides behind the curtain, ready to wipe away the tears or cheer louder than anyone else. This is one woman who has a nice soft shoulder to cry on, and a container of Rocky Road in the freezer ready for a friend with a broken heart.

Majic1

This one’s a toughy!

I picture a sturdy woman who can manhandle a bucking bronco, but insists that her nails are neatly manicured, and fusses over a run in her stockings. She’s got a bright, ready smile, but often frowns while deep in thought. She’s in a management position (or should be) because she comes across as a tough taskmaster, but fair when judging someone. She’s not short-tempered, but when her fuse is lit…look out! She expects, rather than demands, perfection from everyone around her, but doesn’t voice her disappointment if they fail.

Her warm blue eyes can turn sharp and piercing if she’s angry, but otherwise they twinkle like stars. She keeps her dark blonde hair shoulder length, layered and highlighted with white blonde. After a hard day’s work, she likes to unwind with an ice-cold beer and country tunes on the radio. (I’ll be really embarrassed when it turns out she lives in a condo in the city and drives a bright red Porsche!) You couldn’t ask for a better, more reliable friend.

Jperleevt

Calm, quiet and understanding, this lady is steadfast in the toughest of situations. She’s tall and graceful; whose pleasant face becomes prettier the longer you look at her. I think of Grace Kelly when I envision Jen. She dresses professionally, and even when she’s relaxing around friends, she wears neatly pressed slacks, and matching sweater set. For special occasions she prefers to wear her long pale blonde hair pulled up and a strand of her grandmother’s pearls around her neck. She drives a minivan, but dreams of a flashy black, convertible sports car. She wears contact lenses, because she doesn’t like the fuss of changing her regular glasses for prescription sunglasses when she’s driving.

On rainy evenings, she likes to curl up in front of the fire and watch comedy movies where the heroine comes across as a slightly neurotic klutz, but wins her man in the end.

Bearsland

This is one of my earliest “visions”. A classic Scotsman, he’s big and burly, hence the moniker of Bear. As for old, he’s only saying that because the rain triggers his bad knee, injured in a football game in his youth, and because his reddish brown hair and beard are starting to “pepper”. He has a big, blustery personality, but he’s a big softy around the little kiddies.

He’s as comfortable sitting around a kitchen table as he is tipping a pint at the local pub. He prefers the rowdy company of “the lads”, but flirts outrageously with the ladies, both young and old. When he’s feeling particularly frisky, he takes the little wife out for dinner and dancing long into the wee hours of the night. He dresses casually, but deep in his closet, buried beneath the heavy wool sweaters, and hopefully out of sight, he keeps his kilt safe for when he feels the urge to pull it out. He’s only worn it once or twice, but when he looks at it he secretly dreams of his ancestors and their raids on the neighbours’ sheep on dark, shadowy nights.

SharonM

A kind woman, she’s quick to welcome strangers, and even quicker to give friends a hug. Slightly heavy, she wears her bobbed brown hair pulled away from her face to show of her fantastic cheekbones. Her lively hazel eyes are always dancing with mischievousness and she’s quick to catch a joke.

She comes across as a bit shy when you first meet her, but once she’s comfortable, she’s a real comedian. She fusses over her dogs and cats as much as she does over her husband. Night owl by habit more than choice, she likes to read books that keep her guessing at the ending, when she’s not working on her Wonderland level. With a dog at her feet and a cat on her lap, she sips her herbal tea while studying the Editor for errors, her husband snoring loudly down the hall. Her clothes tend to run to casual rather than fashionable, preferring comfort, she’s happier in khakis and t-shirts.

Malcdelsol

He’s a tall gentleman, with a distinguished air about him. I picture him quite tall (over or nearly 6 feet) with a heavy build. He played rugby in his younger days, and still walks around like he owns the field. He prefers a glass of brandy and a cigar after dinner, but likes a sip of Madeira during lunch on the terrace of a quaint Spanish café. He has a cheeky grin, and a quick wink for the pretty, young ladies.

Jan

She’s pretty quiet, but that’s because her husband is the social butterfly. She smiles and nods at his stories, even when she’s heard them a dozen time before. She also rolls her eyes in mock frustration when Malc is up to his tricks, but deeply loves her man. She’s a mother first, but revels in her and her husband’s “second honeymoon” in Spain.

Cat

Since she’s only recently joined the chats, I have a difficult time coming up with a solid image of her. I picture a young mother, early 30’s, whose world evolves around her husband and child, but in her spare time, she likes to escape to Wonderland where she doesn’t need to worry about changing diapers and paying the bills.

I envision her with long reddish-blonde hair, which she wears in a ponytail all the time. Her nails are neatly trimmed, not too short to be stubby, but not to long to scratch the baby. When she wears nail polish, I see light pinks and peaches. She lives in California, so she must be tanned, and very likely toned from all the exercise she gets chasing a baby around all day.

Popo

Another early image that I’ve had for sometime.

She’s in her early 40’s, a professional who dresses in slacks and short-sleeve shirts for work (casual environment). She wears a lot of blue because it sets off her blue green eyes. She’s got a porcelain complexion that she covers with a small amount of make up to give her pale cheeks some colour. When her brown hair finally goes grey, she’s decided not to dye it because she figures she’s earned every strand of it.

She’s not a party animal, but she’s usually the last to leave…someone needs to help clean up, and it’s her way of saying “thank you for inviting me”. She doesn’t let the rain get her down; in fact, she wears a bright yellow rain jacket and carries an umbrella with roses on it to cheer her up. She likes to experience new things, but she’s not brave enough to try sky-diving or bungee jumping…her feet firmly on the ground is where she prefers them, but she’ll watch her friends from the sidelines, cheering them on.

Carolyn

A sweet lady, she enjoys keeping her friends around, and always has time to play dolls or read books with the kids. At the family picnic, she’s the one who brings her potato salad, the one recipe she’s perfected without using a cookbook. She dresses sharp, revelling in her trim figure. She prefers form-fitting sundresses with strappy sandals for those hot days, and snug jeans and sweaters in the cooler months.

She wears her dark brown hair in a classic bob, using her fashionable sunglasses to keep it out of her face. Her smile is as big as the sun, and just as bright. She likes to wink, an attractive movement that draws attention to her warm brown eyes.

Bina

She’s new to the chats, but I quickly developed an image of her. She’s not your typical Scandinavian blonde; instead, her hair is a dark mahogany that she highlights with red. She keeps it short, with neat little spikes on top to show off her delicate, elflike ears. Her dark blue eyes were the first thing her husband noticed, right before he discovered her long slender legs. She had the baby, and almost right away was back to her pre-baby weight, and gladly packed away the maternity clothes for another time. She keeps active chasing the baby around her spotless house, which becomes so cozy and welcoming when she lights the scented candles and lays a fire in the fireplace for company. Her favourite holiday is Christmas. She loves to decorate the Christmas tree, hanging antique, homemade ornaments, while bayberries and cinnamon simmer on the stove. Every present she wraps is like an individual work of art.

Old Pete

He’s another gentleman that thinks he’s old, but he forgets the aches and pains when he’s wading through the river to his favourite fly-fishing hole. He keeps his muddy boots by back door, knowing how much trouble he’d be in if he gets mud on the floors. He always keeps his battered, well-worn slippers handy, and likes to read the paper at the kitchen table while drinking his morning tea.

He’s can’t understand fad diets, doesn’t see the sense of eating dry, cardboard-flavoured food when there is a perfectly good steak at hand. He grew tired of shaving everyday, so he grew a beard, which is liberally peppered with grey, but you don’t notice it when you look into his laughing green eyes. The laugh lines around his eyes testify to a big sense of humour, and he’s not above pulling the odd prank for a chuckle or two.

Jersey

That’s me!

Salin

This lady’s a real tricky one to figure out. Judging by her levels, I assumed she was another brainy male like BigZips and Discgolfer…how embarrassed I was to find out he was a she. She doesn’t post much, more shy than anything because she’s scared to write something that doesn’t make sense. She’s a deep thinker who likes to sit back and listen, occasionally saying something, but only if someone asks her a question. In school she studied hard, and was a straight A student.

She lives alone, but spends a lot of time with her girlfriends. She has a big fluffy cat that greets her at the door when she gets home from her office job, wrapping itself around her ankles fondly as she kicks off her comfortable loafers. She’s a steady friend who always remembers birthdays and special moments for her family and friends. She’s looking for Mr. Right, but only dates occasionally, preferring to keep her heart guarded until a guy takes her fancy. She’s reserved, but it’s only to hide a big heart.

And last, but certainly not least! Little JG

He’s a cute kid, with slightly crooked teeth that enhance his cheeky grin and big glasses that slide down his nose all the time. He hates his cowlick, always tugging at it. He likes Japanese cartoons, like Yu-Gi-O! He’s only young, but already he’s miles ahead of his peers when it comes to reading and writing. He enjoys puzzles, particularly creating them, but gets embarrassed easily when everyone tells him how good they are.

Phew! I sure hope I haven’t missed anyone. I’d hate to think I left someone out, if I did, I apologise profusely and will immediately edit the post if you PM me.

Wow Jersey, you went to a lot of effort! And you even said nice things about me... even after the field trip... you are too sweet.

About your ironing, would you like it well done or medium rare? (I could do your dinner at the same time :D )

Regarding the kids, if you want a clearer visual you'll need to put them both up there, or alternately have one up there and the other pulling at my leg wanting to be carried as well...

I kinda get a warm fuzzy feeling about our grandmas. You know like when your in front of a fire, cozy chair, slippers, hot cocoa & the tv channels just gone… there’s a warmth with them but just a hint of something to get you out of your seat – no canes & blue (???) hair for our gals. Oh and Di’s revelations have lowered your ages a good 20-30 years.
You were actually the first I thought of Di though I put all our Grandmas into the one big pot.
But since you gave me the  eye let me add that I picture you as a very young grandma (a very young 52) who enjoys nothing more than be around friends - and I see a permanent smile with laughter lines at the corners of your eyes. Cozy beside your husband who has been your best friends for many years. A caring mother & proud grandmother. Reflective. Faithful. And feeling young again... Enjoys things & values from times gone by. Loves old things like your car, Keith Richards & the other grandmas here (I know I'm going to get into trouble for that...)

HA, HA, Robbie, yeah, that old evil eye! (You know that was a kidding evil eye, right?) But if you didn't write individual descriptions of us how could we give you points? Seems M.A.D. has some system cooked up to do this, something about a point for each correct guess, which should be interesting.

What did you think you were going to get into trouble for? Why, I do love my car, Keith Richards and the other grammas! :D :D :D

I actually had you written up before the whole cow thing. (BTW - The nickname comes from the girls at work. I was telling them that we only got to see 10 minutes of New Jersey last summer because we took a wrong turn. I was reading the map upside down and we turned right instead of left. :? ) My real name is Joyce - so now you have an image of another grandmother type!

As for the ironing: medium starch, and a sharp crease on the pants, please. I like my steak medium rare. :D

I naturally assumed that those with children would know exactly what carrying 2 children around would be like, so I didn't bother describing one tugging on your ear, and the other sliding along on the ground behind you as she struggles desperately to hold on to your ankle.

Didn't think you had been married that long, so I guessed the Mother's ring would be more appropriate.

 Thought you'd like the butt thing! There was a lot to delete once I wrote everyone up, I very nearly had a novel on each of you!

Hi folks,

Just a reminder, there's only a week to go and we still have a couple of entries to come in yet!

So, c'mon let's get this show on the road.

Just thought I would let you know how the scoring is going.

Surprisingly enough, everyone who has given a description of me got a score.

Old Pete, you got one point because you guessed that I preferred living in the country. 8)

Robbie, I cannot give you a score until some sort of description is given.
I don't mind what you say, have a guess!

Obviously, I can't say at this stage who has what.

You are all darned good!

I'll see what I can come up with... I won't be scoring high though anyway unless we see 4 Catwomen, 2 Macs, 1 cow, 1 donkey & an Old Bear

I had thought the comp was more for putting names to the pictures...
