Panoramio
Hi everyone.
I like maps, maybe more people do. Many people like photo's. So maybe Panoramio is a good idea. This is where I live:
http://www.panoramio.com/map/#lt=52.591 ... &a=1&tab=1
You can zoom and move the map all over the world and then the photo's from that area appear.

Especially this kind. Ok, here's my home town:

But now I live on a tall hill, East of there. I'm in my yard waving at you now!!

No Tyteen, these silly folks didn't forget your map
I put myself on it, didn't you see it? So this is where you live?

Dizzy, so you live nearby Route 66. I saw pictures of two bridges and a funny blue whale there (doesn't like a swimmingpool to me), both visible from satelite.

You know what? Next time the satelite passes, go standing and waving on the head of the whale, then I can't miss you

They've moved that old, broken down boat by the whale, since this picture was taken.

Another cool thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McClellan- ... ion_System
This port is about one mile from my house. There are Patrol helicopters flying over us a lot, to control and watch the Port waterways.
Here is a picture of my addition and you can see how near the river is to my house. http://www.panoramio.com/map/#lt=36.201 ... &a=1&tab=1
Lots of wildlife travel this waterway also.....we've heard a wolf, bobcat and some beautiful water birds.

Robyn, Did you maybe zoom too far in then? Because then the image disappear. I saw on the Wonderland map you have two points, one here http://www.panoramio.com/map/#lt=42.725 ... &a=1&tab=1 , and one here http://www.panoramio.com/map/#lt=45.303 ... &a=1&tab=1 But that one is bad quality indeed and you can't zoom in that far. So the second is where you live? In that case I should call Google to buy a better camera, if I were you
And why are your points at the Wonderland map red instead of yellow? Because of you are firefighter?

Dizzy, I don't understand quite well about that navigation system. I thought it was a GPS to travel in a car but I guess it means that they made the river bigger for the ships. There is another confusing thing: In Dutch there is one word for travel on water either with a sailboat or a motorboat. When I look up fpr that I find sail and navigate, but I think sail is with a sailboat and navigate is planning a route. I think this is that port

but isn't that much more then 1 mile from your home? A mile is about 1.6 km isn't it?
And isn't it dangerous there with wolves in the neighbourhood?
Tyteen, that's a quite big house, I guess you don't live alone there
What a huge buildings there all are! But I was only a few kilometers wrong, you can walk it

Nope neither one of those links is where I live. The first one is Lower Michigan and way far from me. The second one doesn't show the river on one side nor the bay on the other so I'm not sure where this is
When I put in my postal zip code it shows me a green blob basically with not water. I'm in an area with loads of water so I'm not sure what it's showing me.

On the point on the wonderland map http://www.frappr.com/worldofwonderland stands Wallace MI 49893 and that's here either on the Frappr map as Google/Panoramio. But I have zoomed te map more out now.
http://www.panoramio.com/map/#lt=45.309 ... &a=1&tab=1 so maybe it looks more familiar now? In that case you can zoom and move the map to the right place.
But later I found your own map on Frappr and there was a point right here in Traverse City http://www.panoramio.com/map/#lt=44.738 ... &a=1&tab=1 Is that maybe the right place?

Ok, this http://www.panoramio.com/map/#lt=36.184 ... &a=1&tab=1 shows the port and my house in the same picture. The port is in the top left corner, follow the river and it curves downward. When it starts curving upward, my house/addition is on the right hand side of the river. Then there's another 'Port 33' at Hwy.412 and that's about a mile from me (as the stork flies) I'm sort of in that big curve of the river.
Now, there's not really room for any "ships", mainly just barges and boats and they bring things in like coal and drugs...no doubt!
