Nintendo purposely made it so that you couldn't play as Sonic until the end of Subspace Emissary.

My sister plays as Sonic ALL THE TIME, and refuses to play as anyone else. I like to play as Pikachu, sometimes Toon Link, Luigi, or Kirby. I tried Sonic against my sister, and she was a lot better than me, of course.

But I still won because of SMASH BALL.

I don't have SSBB, but my friend does, and I love it. My favorite thing is the stage creator, it's so much fun to pick music for the stages.
