Who has Funny Animal Stories?

Post by lgrapes » Tue Feb 01, 2005 8:48 pm

So, I am sitting here enjoying the different threads going on and CRASH!!!! Well, we have a thread for "Jokes", "Children", M.A.W.", etc... I think we need one for funny animal stories. So, here it goes:

We are renovating our house (1896 Victorian) and needless to say that everything is a mess. We currently are trying to finish up 3 rooms by Friday. HUGE Superbowl Party on Sunday (Go Patriots!!!!!). So, all of my plants are misplaced and scattered about and not in the normal places. I did this to protect them from plaster dust and saw dust...Well, I forgot to factor in TINKERBELL!!!!! She just knocked over a glass tray and shattered it, which scared the dickens out of her and she took off like a bolt. As she took off she knocked over an entire plant stand (10 plants) and pulled my Spider plant down!!! Now I can't get her out from under the bed to check if she is alright. My dog is still hanging off of the ceiling

Here is a pic of my little darling sleeping soundly in the Christmas tree. She never grew past kitten like. She yo-yo's between 2 to 3 pounds. Oh and I don't think I have ever seen her blink...She's a krazy-kat!!!

Jasmin is my little Princess :D

This story goes back years.

I had this wee collie called Lassie, like all my animals she was spoiled rotten. When she was a big puppy Lassie took a great notion of this bairn's dummy/soother. I was afraid of her choking and confiscated it, she cried so much I relented. That dog sucked a dummy until the end of her days :!:

My sister wouldn't allow her toddler a dummy, thought they were gross :!: One day, Kirsty stole the dogs dummy and caused ructions in the house. Lassie refused to take it back after the toddler sucking on it. Sooooo unhygienic. tut, tut :!:

I had to go and buy her a new one.

To be continued............

We had a miniature poodle who loved her chew toys so much that she'd
usually end up chewing them into little bits. So we hunted for something
that was "indestructable" for her to chew on.

Now understand that poodles have a reputation for being "foo-foo" dogs,
but anyone who has ever lived with a poodle knows that they are excellent
watch dogs, and they have teeth that'll go up against any larger dogs.

We found a chew toy that was advertised as being "guaranteed indestructable
or your money back", so we bought one.

Well, Betsy had this "indestructable" gorilla toy torn apart within 20 minutes
with bits and pieces all over the place.

So we thought we'd call the manufacturer, just to let them know that their
toy was not indestructable as advertised. The lady on the phone asked
what the toy was and where we bought it, etc. and was busily taking down
notes.

She then asked what kind of dog we had. We told her "a miniature poodle".

She then put us on hold for a couple of minutes, came back to
the phone and said: "I'm sorry I had to put you on hold, I was just
laughing too hard I couldn't speak" and she continued to handle our call.

That is so funny Popo

Jasmin loves to rip the gutts out of all of her toys...I buy all of her "Squeekies" at the dollar store because it can get a bit exspensive. Whenever we buy her a new one she concentrates on the squeeker until she has made a little tiny hole in the stuffed toy...then she uses her snout and paws to pull the stuffing out...once she has removed all of the stuffing (OMG do those little toys have an enormous amount of stuffing in them), she spreads the stuffing all over the house. Hides wads in the couch, our bed, under furniture, you name it. After that part is done she works on getting the little plastic round squeekie out and procedes to chew and squeek until it is dead. Now mind you this annoying noise (squeek-squeeeeek-squeek-squeeeek) can go on for minutes, hours, days, weeks!!! She will then bring the dead squeeker to you and paw at you and wimper. It is like she is saying..."Uh, hello I need a new toy Mom". What a pip she is.

So, of course I will run to the store and buy about 10 more. This usually keeps her busy for a few weeks

My Pets

Post by Cat » Wed Feb 02, 2005 9:00 pm

This was the toy poodle that we use to have! She passed away last year we love her , she was like one of the family! Her name is Baby and she was just like a Baby, but OMG if you left her alone, when you got back home from work the kids in school the house would be demolished. :D

And then there is Missy my outside dog. She is a Lab and very playful, I get so tickled we get her excited by playing catch with her. And then she will run circles around in yard. Making several and running just as fast as she can.

When my husband and I go for a walk she really gets excited and is ready to go.

Thanks Igrapes, Baby had suffered so much in the last year it was better for her to pass away. She had cancer and it had spread, poodles get child hood diseases just like children.

My husband father gave us Baby she was the rut of the bunch. But we could go to their house and Baby loved to ride. And once we got there we would say to her "Baby we are at Papa's she knew exactly who we were talking about. If you didn't have your car window rolled up then we had better have a good hold on her. Because she was going out that window to see her Papa.

If we every order pizza and had it delivered, all we would have to do is spelled out Pizza and she knew what we had done. She would go look out the window waiting on the pizza guy. and when would go get out the money she would grab it with her mouth and then dig in the couch cushions. These dogs are so smart. Even spell out the OUT she knew what we meant and would go to the door and if we didn't get up the she would hit the door or us with her paws. :D

I like Missy white paws, she is only about two years. I have her spooiled too. Like yesterday I wasgoing to give her some sliced ham that was in the refrigerator. I torn it into pieces but it on the ground in front of her. OMG I had to pick it up and hand it to her piece by piece before she would eat it.
Now that is spoiled rotten. :D :) But that is what we do for the animals we love.

Your Missy sounds like my Jasmin...Spoiled to the core!!!

Jasmin is the ultimate housedog...In the summer I worry about her breaking out of our yard when we are not home (she has a few times)...In the winter you could leave my gaits open, the front door open...She is not leaving her nice warm bed (that would one of her four beds in the house). I made all of her beds for her so they are big enough and warm enough for the little princess.

She will go out in the morning when it is cold and pee and poo really-really fast. She runs in and snuggles on a bed near a heater for the next hour or so.

As I write this my cat, Tinkerbell, just saw a dust bunny come up through the grate on the floor(forced air heat)...she is chasing it around. What a nut!!!

Hey Cat, I'll tell ya, those poodles ARE smart! We have 2 toy poodles now,
one is almost 4 years old, the other is just over a year old, and they
are one amazing breed of dog. They never "yip", they're so well
behaved, except the 1-year old does chase the cat around the house
when he starts feeling his oats.

I understand how those of you who have lost their "babies" feel. I lost Cricket, a calico kitty, two years ago and Spice, totally black, a year ago. They were brother and sister. Cricket would play fetch with you. If you threw a wad of paper she would chase it, pick it up and bring it back to you to throw again. She would only do this if Spice were not around. If he saw her doing it, he would chase her to make her stop. I guess he thought she was getting too much attention. They are just like children.

lgrapes, I think if you shrink the photos to about 40 kb using paint or a photo program, they will fit on the page. I'm not sure of the 40 kb, so you might have to experiment to find the right size.

Sorry Gen to hear about Cricket and Spice, it is never easy loosing a pet! :(
Roger those poodles are smart, after having Baby for 15 yrs, we decided not to get another poodle. The apin of loosing another one would be to unbearable. So we just keep our out door dog, even tho at times I would like to have another poodle.

The poodles are smart and like you said Roger there never yip. After your poodle gets older it will calm down, but you already know that. At one time Baby pulled junks of our carpet up with her teeth. We put black pepper down before we went to bed and believe it or not she licked up that black pepper. :D :) We thought it would keep her from doing that, we were wrong.

Hi Gen,

I know just what you mean about playing fetch.

We had a grey & white/part Himalayan Persian named Jason. We had him for 17 years and it was almost like he bonded with me. He was an abused kitty that we rescued at age 5 months.

He'd play fetch, just the way you describe with a wad of paper, but he would only return it if he could place it in my husband's shoe. No shoe - no play.

When we presented him with a little sister, Clover, that particular game stopped. It was as if it was his special thing with us and he wasn't about to share it.

He was a devoted, tuff older brother and boy, did she have to mind her manners !!! She died at 13 and we had 3 more years with Jason.

Then we adopted a rescued 2 year old, Nelson, and our lives have never been the same since !!!!!!!!!! He's one feisty kitty, even now at the age of 10. He keeps us in stitches laughing at his crazy antics.

Hi All
Lori - you're trying to get your dog photo smaller? In your photo editor, try specifying a small size first and then copying your photo into that small frame. If necessary drag it in by the corners until it fits. Then save the image as a jpeg.

You can see a photo of my two pooches on General Discussion, called Dog Pic for Jane ('cos she asked me what my dogs were like). Misty looks a bit like a poodle but she's a bichon frisee/tibetan terrier cross. She's also a rescue dog, a cruelty case. Her previous owner had cut off her left ear :x . I've grown her hair to disguise it though.

When we brought her home, Sparky (my labrador/border collie cross) went out in the garden. Misty sat at the garden door and refused to let him back in the house. Sparky is such a softy, he just sat there crying until we moved Misty and let him back in! He's twice her size, but she's in charge.

Thanks Liz and Gen for the hints on re-sizing pictures.

I wanted to add a picture of Nelson, but the first time I tried it was ENORMOUS.
You might have thought he was an extremely hairy Great Dane.

Anyway, I've now managed a better size and he just looks like himself again - beautiful, but normal.

Okay now that I think I figured out the picture editor I can show you more pics of my kids.

We have been renovating an 1896 Victorian home and I have been cleaning out a closet and came across this one of Tinkerbell the day after Andy showed up from a night out at the bar with her tucked in his coat pocket. She was filthy so I gave her a bath in the sink and fluffed her dry...

:D :D :D :D

The pics are a little fuzzy but that is how they are scanning...I think because they have been sitting in a box and were scratched a bit...Sorry

Those are some cute ones all right! What a nice pic of Nelson, and the pic of Tinkerbell is sure one cute one, no doubt!

The dog is Rocky, our 1-year old toy poodle, not a sweetheart yet, but
we're hoping someday.....

The cat is Spike, she's about 8-9, a rescue cat and a real sweetheart.

What great pictures everyone! Lori - we've both got lab/border collie cross dogs. They're so clever - a great mixture. 8)

Roger and Lori - how have you got the dogs and cats to get on with eachother? Mine sit at the window barking at every cat that saunters past in the street!  Of course the cats know they're superior and have the freedom to go where they want, I think this makes my dogs really jealous. :x :x .

Actually Liz,

I had two old sots before Tinkerbell came along and although Jasmin tried as she may they really were mean to her. Funny she was 10 times bigger and they ruled her   This mixed bread tends to be highly intelligent and very gentle. I had Lacey and Sebastian prior to Tinkerbell...Sebastian was a little bit patient with Jasmin but Lacey...Not a chance buddy!!! She used to chase Jasmin down everyday and corner her  Lacey would then walk away with that "In your Face" cat swagger

When Tinkerbell came along (fit in my palm), Jasmin and her just got a long. Well, initially Jasmin chased her until Tinky realized that she had nails and Jasmin learned to back off a bit. It is so sweet now...they are best friends. Well, after two broken lamps, Mikasa candy dish, planters and oh yes an entire stack of plates!!!

I think the trick here is that Tinky has know Jasmin since she was 8 weeks old.
