From what Dylan1298 said, he has already left. The area where he lives was hit very hard by Ivan last year, so I don't blame him. Many in that area are still re-building from last year. I hope all in that area stay safe. The last I heard, Dennis is supposed to hit somewhere between New Oleans, LA and the Panhandle of FL. The thing that is so worrisome is that these things can change direction at any time - like Charley did last year. So Dennis could potentially hit any state that borders the Gulf of Mexico.
Thank you so much for your thoughts. At the moment, it looks like Dennis will pass about 150 to the west of where I am. We will probably get some wind and rain from the feeder bands. We are under a coastal flood watch, but not a hurricane watch or warning. So I should still be around unless I lose power. Last year, I was lucky when Charley, Francis and Jeanne came through this area - never lost power for long and didn't have any really bad damage. Others were out for days and are still re-building.
For those of you interested, this is a good site for hurricane updates.
