I'm home safely!
I'm home safely!
Thank you so much for your post Gen, I just read it and it brought tears to my eyes how caring ALL you wonderland people are, and we've never met! It's just great that this world still has these kinda of people in it with everything that's tearing it apart- I left Sunday evening and went to my brothers in Northeast Georgia, so all we got was some heavy rain. I got home this morning about 4:30am and went to bed- It's so much easier driving at night, I have 3 boys and I took my 2 dogs, so everyone sleeps at night and I can drive. I haven't seen it personally, but I heard we got some damage on the beach from the storm surge. I live about 2 miles from the beach but the water didn't reach my house. I had a tree fall on the dogs pen and lost some roof shingles but that is absolutley nothing compared to what I've seen on Tv- I was also told the death toll may reach over 100,000 people for New Orleans and Mississippi- I'm in shock, this is the biggest storm in history- It was bigger than Camille (if any of you older Wonderlanders remember Camile in 1969, it made landfall almost the exact same spot). I'm very happy me and family are safe but I'm just torn apart for the others. I hope we didn't have any Wonderlands that lived in that area!

Dylan, I'm very very glad you & your family are safe, & no harm has come to you. Thanks for checking in & letting your wonderland family know you're home & well.
I pray for those that weren't as lucky, it just rips my heart out, I can't even imagine what life must be like in New Orleans.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
Hi Lisa, I am glad you decided to leave and go to a safe place and I'm so glad you, your boys and dogs are back home and safe! It is also good that you don't have major damage to your home. I didn't know whether you were actually on the beach or further inland.
I do remember Hurricane Camille and I think this one is 100 times worse! I've seen the pictures of all the damage and still can't really comprehend the magnitude. I feel so bad for the people who have lost everything and are now thirsty, hungry, hot, tired and lost.
Hug your boys and take care of yourselves. Let us know how you are getting along.

I am so relieved and happy you are okay, Lisa.
We were very worried about you. Thank goodness your home escaped without major damage too. I think having to do major repairs and rebuilding is probably going to be hard to do in your neck of the woods, right now, with so much having to go to provide shelter and relief to so many in that area of the country.
Yes, I remember Camille. She was a nightmare, but Katrina was so much worse! It's so hard to watch the news right now. I cry every time.
Take care of yourself and your family.
