Rita
There is some one who lives in Texas and I forgot who- All those take care and check in often, Rita's coming (so far)- I you pray for her to go elsewhere, please please please please, not me

You guys are right, Ann and I are right in the center of one of the model tracks that have it coming in around Corpus Christi Texas. Ann is much closer to the coast than I am (I am about 75 miles inland). We will watch this very close and hope it doesn't hit us head on. Even inland the winds and rain are quite destructive. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
I'm watching the weather now and they are evacuating the keys of Florida. It looks like at this point it's heading for Corpus Christi, but the probability cone extends from near New Orleans to Mexico. That means that it can hit anywhere within that cone. Of course, it'll change as Rita gets closer to land. I'm praying for a filzzle. Barring that, a very weak storm. Ann and Drushing please take care. Lisa, you need to keep an eye on it too. At this point, it's hard to tell where it will go.
I talked to Sharon 761 before Ophelia and she was fine. She's on the northern coast of NC next to the VA line and Ophelia pretty much gave that area a miss. It didn't do what they were predicting, so a lot of the areas under warning didn't see much of anything. Atlantic Beach to Hatteras seemed to have recieved the brunt of it and there's quite a bit of damage, but I don't think there was any lose of life. The main problem with Ophelia was the slowness of the storm.
Anyway, just take care and keep an eye on Rita, Ann, Drushing, and Lisa.

Ann, Donna, you will be in our prayers and stay safe. I am so Thankful that Sharon 761 has avoided Ophelia. So hard to keep up where everyone lives.
I guess I better watch the news and see where Rita is. Take care and stay safe. You all are in my prayers

Ann and Donna, please stay informed! One of our local forecaster was saying today that the Gulf has warmed up again since Katrina went ashore and the conditions are right for Rita to develop into a category 3-5 storm by the time it reaches the coast. So please stay alert and get out of there if it comes your way! My thoughts are with you all!
Thanks everybody for your concern - we are watching the storm's track very closely.
Four of the five computer models have the storm heading for the Houston area, and the fifth one has it close to Brownsville.
Regardless of all the predictions at this point, we know how things can change, so we are making preparations. Shopping for supplies, getting ready to board up the windows if necessary, and if it comes this way instead of Houston, alerting our family who live there, that we're going there, instead of them coming here.
Hopefully, none of this will happen, but unfortunately the conditions are right for another big storm.
Please, everyone who might be in the path, take very good care to leave as soon as possible, and all you others who aren't close, pray for us. We might need it this time.

I third it!
Donna, you are too!
Please, everyone in the area take especial care. I just saw the weather a few minutes ago and they were predicting a Cat 3 with landfall near Houston. I'm praying and hoping Texas is spared. They have done so much for NO refugees, it's amazing. I would be very proud to be a Texan right now.

Just to let you know that we are still watching all the weather reports and computer graphics on Rita. It looks as though it will be north of us, and at this point I think we're planning to stay. Got all the stuff ready to board up the windows, bought a generator and window a/c unit, and lots of food and water. Hopefully that will be enough to keep her away from here. It worked a while back when we got ready for Emily, and she missed us.
I will probably be off-line for a while, either due to not being here and taking the computer/hard drives with us, or we're here with no power.
Will update every one as time goes on. If we do decide to leave, it will probably be Thursday.

Well it looks like Rita is turning into a monster storm. Most of the coastal areas have already issued mandatory evacuation orders. Our county is inland and so far we are under a voluntary evacuation if you live in a low area (prone to flooding). We are not in a low area so hopefully we will be fine. If Rita reached a CAT 5 level we may need to leave too. I will do my best to keep you all updated. Your good wishes and concern for us are greatly appreciated!

I hope you all are taking the precautions you need to. Rita is now Cat 5 with the eye pressure at 914mb and dropping. This is a huge storm, extremely strong and dangerous. They are saying it should drop to Cat 4 before hitting somewhere between Corpus Christie and Galvaston. There is a chance it'll drop to a Cat 3, but not looking very likely right now. Please, please take the measures you need to to keep safe. The storm surge is likely to swamp Galveston. Make sure you and your loved ones stay safe. Property can be replaced but lives can't. Everyone in that area are in my prayers, especially you, Ann and Donna.

Ann, Donna and anyone else, please remember everything you saw about Katrinia- My husband said that Rita has a bigger wind field than Katrinia did and the destruction will be more wide spread- Please get out in time, I'm still missing a customer I sold to on Ebay from Katrinia and I don't want to miss you too!- You have all become like a long distance family to me! Take care and stay safethe cat wrote:What part of TX are you in??????? Please be safe.

the cat was very thoughtful to ask where I was located in Texas.
I live in Del Rio which is west of San Antonio. Unless something happens and storms come up the Rio Grande ~ and they have, we should be fine.
But I REALLY worry about ya'll that are even close to the coast!
PLEASE BE CAREFUL.
