New Level - Adventure 03

Post by ZORO » Thu Jul 22, 2004 12:03 pm

Please ensure that you download and play this level within the ORIGINAL version of RTW

The townsfolk are free, but their eyes are still 'runny',
The wicked Baron has taken all of their money,
'Help Us' they ask, disregarding my danger,
They have me mixed up - I'm not ... 'The Lone Ranger'

I too, sorry to say
Had to cheat on your level in order to play.
Surrounded by bumps, that button so pink,
impeded my progress and gave me a crink.
So into the editor I made my way and
took out 3 bumps, that saved my play.
The boulders I rolled across the table,
one sits on the button, very round and stable.
The end of my story is filled with cheer,
in the next room the exit was near.

Another good one Zoro. Loved the little note to the UFO.

Messed up with the boulders a couple of times, but got there in the end, and no second degree burns either. :D

ol'gramma your poem is truly superb,
But your comments make me greatly disturb (ed),
To cheat in this quest in such a way,
Begs the question .. Why bother to play :?:

The whole level was based on solving THAT task,
I'd have given a hint but no-one did ask,
If this is what most players do,
Then I think to myself .. 'Am I through?'

There seems little point in creating more,
If you use the editor to solve any chore,
In taking this view surely I am not wrong,
I intended for my adventures to go on and on.

Please don't stop Zoro, making levels or writing poems. I am enjoying them too much, and I swear I don't cheat.

Zoro says he's going to stop!
When I read that my jaw just drop (ped)
Where will I find such quirky levels?
So stop cheating, you naughty devils!

Now look what you've done, you've got me at it too.

I guess Zoro has spread all over this forum the poem mania!

"Wonderland, Wonderland
I know each coloured inch of you
Your treasures I have been to find,
A thousand times inside my mind

I know every rainbow Coin,
And all I see, from mountains to castels,
Can't wait to meet your 4th game (read like stinky! )
And quite prepared to pay a fee

Stinky, Loof and all his friends
Made me laugh for lots of times
Many hours of fun with all
And this poem really sux! :(

ol'gramma says it well. I had a poem explaining how I solved the puzzle but I liked her poem better. Our ways were different other than the editor.

I only used the word cheat originally in my poem in a fun way. I do not see it as cheating at all but rather additional creativity. Sometimes I change the style of someone's level. There are a few styles that visually are not to my liking. With a click of the editor, I am pleased.

I don't want a hint. I do still try to figure out the original now and then. In the meantime, I like to enjoy the rest of the creation.

Hi Wonderlanders,

Should have posted a few days ago but then I would probably have missed all of the recent comments.

Assuming I solved this level in the way intended then Zoro did use a trick that I cannot remember being used before - but it might have been

Everyone's poems have been fun to read - but NO - definately not going to get one from me - you thought Kabooms' were bad enough

Finally, the moment you load a level into the Editor (if only to peek) before completing it is quite simply CHEATING :!:
You cannot do this with the 'Standard' levels that come with the game.
If someone spends hours/days in creating a puzzle level in a certain style then that is HOW IT IS MEANT TO BE PLAYED.

To use words such as ' additional creativity' as an excuse for using the Editor is a complete delusion in my book - it's CHEATING :!: :!:

Oh for crying out loud, lighten up both of you will ya!

This is just a game. Stop "policing" how other people are going to play it, or they'll just stop playing your levels. People who "cheated" already admitted as such, no point in rubbing it in into their face.

My guess is that because your levels feature such unusual "tricks", people are more apt to give up thinking that they'll never figure out the tricks since it's so outside their usual experience of how the game is supposed to work. This is perhaps why people are more apt to cheat on the level. If you look thru the forums you'll find that most of the time no one cheats on anything regardless of difficulty, and if they do cheat on something, it's usually because they like the level so much they want to get thru more of it than they can at the moment. I've made my share of levels that are far more difficult than this one, but no one's bother cheating on them, they just put the levels aside for the future.

And stop making levels just because a few people aren't playing it "the way you wanted" is rather selfish. There is a community of 500+ people here, most of whom do not bother posting regular comments. So who knows how many people are affected by your decision to stop posting levels! Are you really going to "punish" everyone for the behavior of a few? And why in the world should I ever be using the word "punish" in talking about a game in the first place? Isn't that a bit ridiculous? :?: :!: :?:

--------------

Anyway, I've briefly played thru all 3 of your levels and they're fairly interesting, but I have to admit I haven't played them too much because it's a bit of a hassle for me to have to fire up the non-Deluxe version of RTW just to play the levels. So I don't actually remember now whether I've solved your levels or not, although I'm sure I completed #1 and #2 and at least go thru where the UFO is in #3. Now that you stirred up such a commotion I guess I'll revisit the levels again. Since this matters to you so much, I can tell you that I don't ever "cheat" on levels. Mind you, I'm one of those people who always play the official levels timed and in normal progression, you get the idea.

The standard levels come with walkthroughs on some levels and hints are given if someone writes to the creator.

Wow!! Delusional, yet :) Not even partially delusion, complete!! :)

Zoro deserved an honest reply because he has added a skill to a game that no other has done so far and I enjoy that. Where are all of the people posting that they solved it? That's why the question was asked in the first place.

I have never hidden the fact that I "tweek" some games. It is a compliment if I do that because it shows that I see some merit in the game. Some games I simply delete as not even being worth the time to look in the editor. I've never told the creator that I've deleted their game or edited it. I am well aware that some of the levels that I don't like are appreciated by others and it is nobody's responsibility to make it according to my taste.

According to your concept of life, if I buy something and modify it because I like something that it doesn't feature, I am insulting the creator of that appliance, tool, clothing etc. According to you I am delusional if I add a touch to something that gives me even more joy without my touch.

The high horse you rode in on just left a pile of manure. At least the horse wasn't as anal as you are.

Hi Ramonda,

To compare the changing of an appliance or item of clothing to suit your personal taste with making a change to a computer game so that you complete it is yet another complete delusion on your part.

I have no objection to anyone using a hint, a full Online Solution or indeed the Editor.

However, to then say that you have completed the level through 'additional creativity' is self-delusion.

Now, gotta go feed the horse

Wow, and you thought my post was bad, Ramonda really slapped you in the face with her post.

No need to use the strong word "delusional". Let's look at Ramonda's reply to ZORO:
Ramonda wrote:I only used the word cheat originally in my poem in a fun way. I do not see it as cheating at all but rather additional creativity. Sometimes I change the style of someone's level. There are a few styles that visually are not to my liking. With a click of the editor, I am pleased.

Considering the underlined sentences, I think Ramonda's fully aware that she did not really solve the level as given, and I'm pretty sure she knows she's not fooling anyone into thinking otherwise.

If you must squabble over her choice of words, so be it, but I think she stated pretty clearly that she meant no ill will towards Zoro in modifying the level, and that in fact it's because she liked some aspect of the level that compelled her to modify the level and publicly stated so. (As I've said, since when did anyone ever do that with my levels? ) Maybe you like to look at levels as some sort of exam administered to others, but others don't have to look at it that way. If Ramonda wants to think of levels as household appliances then I suppose it's her choice.

If you have no objections then why did you ever object?

This was a marvelous thread
Til you created a stink
You "believe" you rule the world
And attempt to tell others how to think

Delude yourself no more
The world is large and free
You call it delusion
I call it creativity

You call yourself a Lord
No title have I
I'll freely use the word creative
Just as you can boldy lie

Hi Ramonda,

You miss the point entirely.

The 'objection' (your word not mine) that I have is not that you used the Editor but in having done so you then believe that you have completed the level through 'additional creativity'.

I am sorry, it is CHEATING :!:

It is a fact - live with it

I've missed no point,
Oh, ruler of none
This is but a game we play
The goal is to have fun

Cheating is subjective
As is creative too
Words themselves are created
And added unto

Sit back, relax
Let the sphincter muscles go
Twas none of your business
I was speaking to Zoro
