YES!!!!!!! Did it with the help of Bertie (my 3 year old!). He showed me how to build the bridge properly. I got zapped 3 or 4 times after all that work because our down arrow key is a**ed

Cool level - one of your easiest by far

Hi Lillian,

CONGRATS on completing this level - well, to little Bertie REALLY

UNFORTUNATELY the answer you have given to my poser is sadly incorrect

Have another think - or ask Bertie

How can it not be 47?

My husband has written you the following:

Pages: 12 x 3cm = 36
Covers: 12 x 0.5cm x 2(front+back) = 12

Total thickness of books = 48cm

From 1st Page of book 1 to last page of book 12:
lose front cover of book 1 (0.5cm) + back cover of book 12 (0.5cm) = 47cm

The only other answer could be 41.5cm - if you mean the total cover thickness front and back is 0.5cm.

Explain yourself Mr Pompey Pants :D :D :D

Hi Wonderlanders,

So that you do not think I am ignoring Lillian - I have sent her a PM.

The correct answer to my poser is not 47

Anyone else want to have a go :?: :?:

I agree with the above. But I suppose this is a "trick" question. (Sigh)

I did get shopping done for one person today....
only about 20 more to go. And Birthdays on the 22nd, 23rd, and the 24th! Maybe I'll take another couple of weeks off.

But now I am going back to work on this! :D

Just about have this one, still one box short.

As for the poser, I suggest it can't be answered based on the information
offered. Lillian's logic would be correct, however we're not informed of
the sequence of the volumes on the shelf.

Now.... back to the game

Finished, took a couple more tries. I enjoy prisms, it's always fun trying
to figure out who and what can be destroyed with just one "bam".

Good level, thanks! :D :D

Nice level. 47??? I got 41.5cm from the first PAGE of the first book to the last PAGE of the last book thus:

(.5cm X 11) + (3cm X 12) = N

5.5cm + 36cm = 41.5cm

(the COVER at the beginning of the first book and the end of the last book only equal .5 cm)

I don't know diddly about math, but I drew myself a picture. There was a natural tendancy to subtract 1 instead of only .5. haha!!!

Hi Wonderlanders,

Congrats to all who have completed the level

As for the poser question - well, yes my correct answer assumes the 12 books would be stacked in numerical sequence, left to right  (I don't know anyone who would have them placed differently)

Therefore each book is 4cm thick (3cm pages + 2 x .5cm for the cover)

However - the FIRST page of book 1 is on the RIGHT of the book - the LAST page of book 12 is on the LEFT of the book.

Therefore the total distance between First page of book1 to Last page of book 12 =

12 x 4 = 48 cms minus 1cm (2 outside covers) minus 6cms (pages of book 1 & book 12) = 41 cms

Semantics at work here as to the .5 cm for the cover. Your question did not state that it was .5 cm for the front and another for the back so I assumed .5cm for the entire cover, front and back.

What I failed to understand was that when the book was turned TOWARD the shelf the first page is on the right of the first book, but would also be on the right side of the last book.

Where did you come up with this mind boggling stuff anyway?????

Hi Malc,

As soon as I got your PM I went to my bookcase and pulled one out, and it struck me then what the trick was......Was going to post this last night but attended littlejgs Christmas program, and then went back out shopping. (isn't it fun that the stores stay open to all hours this time of year?) Anyway, thanks for the poser! Finished the level too! :D

Hi Teri1255 & jg,

Sorry over the confusion with the cover width Teri - was trying to keep the poser in 1 'note square'

I have several such posers stored in my stupid head  - most require much explenation though or a drawing to go with them - I might do just 1 more

jg - glad you completed the level (and I assume your xmas shopping). Here in Spain the shops still open 9 - 1 then siesta until they open again 5 - 9, all year round :D
