That costs money.
No need for it 8)
We can use camstudio :D
HD is better.
Camtasia=mp4 hd vids.
Camstudio=baddy qaulity vids, a camstudio icon on the toolbar.

Well, since this seems to be the "off-topic topic", let me also say something off-topic.

Other forums, yes. Here, no.
That's not true! BB was right about deleting posts. In the RTW levels subforum you still can delete your post if no one posted after you. I don't know about the Midnight Post subforum though.

Then here's something On Topic:

It seems everyone think they can record solutions (but first they need to solve the levels  ) so I guess it's about video solutions. But to the people who think they need the solutions (so not to the people who think they are going to record solutions); Do you prefer video's or walkthrough's (and perhaps also screenshots)?

I'm not sure if I'm going to buy "POTZ", but at least I think I'll download the demo. For the levels I'm able to solve, I would like to write a walkthrough, at least if I know someone will read them.

Nah, let's not argue about what format it should be, it would still be uploaded.

That's OK. I didn't want to argue about that, but I guess some people prefer video's and other people walkthrough's. (probably most of the people prefer video's though.)

I say make both text&picture and video solutions.

Some find it easier to understand text solutions, and some with video.
The text solutions show you what your doing wrong in a certain part of a level (if you want to still solve it partially blind, video could spoil things for you!) probably by doing the level in "steps", where a video solution does not provide steps.

However video solutions are easier to follow because it's actually happening right before you.

By format I was talking about the video format, not the format of the walkthrough.

But anyways both would be great.

Just for the record: I'm not entirely gone

I'm slowly getting back into the Wonderland groove and is currently playing my way through all the games (again).

I definitely plan to be around when POTZ is released and if I have the time, I can host the solutions this time too. At least until it's complete (and then I would talk to Patrick about him hosting the solutions for eternity).

Best,
Mette

I own the domain nutters.dk so I can edit that as I please (but there's nothing there at the moment).

I cannot edit the stuff Patrick stores on the Midnight Synergy page, e.g. all the stuff that used to be on wonderland.nutters.dk.

Yes, but since if you go to wonderland.nutters.dk, you'll get automatically redirected to ms.

If your gonna make solutions for PoTZ, are you gonna put them on nutters, just like with WA and MoFI?

What's your point?

It seems obvious to me that she put the stuff on her own site, since she doesn't have access to Patrick's site, and also that the automatic redirection will be switched off then.

There are somethings in the moment. You can make another download option for custom textures of WAE by including some png and bmp images done by we users

The shortcut WAE was made by me, and i am not sure if mette knows what it stands for.
Its stands for WA Editor.

I'd be glad to actually schedule an LP of POTZ with some people. I think Q and some others might be interested. :3

Tyteen, I see you want to write a program which sorts the solutions automaticly, and shows them in the right order, right? But if Mette just makes her website manually, people can send their walkthrough's or links to Youtube video's to her by PM or email, then we actually don't need your system do we?

Mette also used to check the solution if it's complete and if it's possible to solve the level just by reading the walkthrough or watching the video, and that's not what a computerprogram can do, right?

It is used to lighten Mette's workload, so he can focus on making walkthroughs rather than worrying about having to copy 150+ HTML files, one for each adventure (I expect PoTZ to have 150+ adventures), and thus will reduce the chance for mislinking, right-page-wrong-adventure etc.

Still, if mette wants to work with the traditional way, I am fine with that.

Don't get all carried away now :)

What I offer is to provide a place to host the solutions for WA:POTZ (at least temporarily). I'm not a .html wiz, so if I'm going to do this, it will be in the old fashioned way - like I did for WA and WA:MOFI.

I don't plan on creating all the solutions myself - far from it. Like the last times it will be up to anyone interested in the project to send me their solutions. I will then put the solutions online. I will maintain a public list of who is working on what and what is already done. Solutions can be text/screenshots/videos in any combination. I make no guarantees that a solution provided by the community is the smartest/easiest/most clever way to complete an adventure - or even if it works. It's up to the community to check the solutions provided.

If someone has a better way of doing things, please feel free to do so. Then I will just participate like anyone else who might be interested in the project.

Best,
Mette

P.S. I'm female btw ;)

We can simply send level solutions for POTZ in the forum for WA solutions?
Simple :D

No, not simple. People don't want to search through forums and topics, scrolling down the pages through all different solutions, clicking to the next page.... and the next page.... and the next, until they finally have found a few unclear partly solutions.

People want it easy. They want a clear list of all the levels in the right order, and only to click on the number to get the right (and clear) solution.

Then one of us can make a post in a topic which will link to all solutions. But first, some of us must give all solutions for them to be posted by one user. Who will that one user be? MS or a mod?

Qwerty that's indeed a good possibility. Making one post in a sticky topic with an ordered list to all solutions, which can be actually everywhere you wish. However, that's about the same system as how a website works.

This is how it happened in the past (Mette or some of the older members, please interrupt me if I miss something) Mette has a server and domain-name http://wonderland.nutters.dk/ Several users wrote walkthrough's or recorded solution-video's and emailed or PM-ed them to Mette. Mette put them all on her website (well, the video's just stayed on Youtube)

In the meantime Patrick made also his own solution video's under the Youtube account "Peegue" and put them on his own website http://www.midnightsynergy.com But not for all levels.

After a while Mette decided to stop with her website, and we all thought it would be pity if all the information would be lost. So Patrick decided to copy all the stuff from Mette's site to a seperate part of his own site. http://www.midnightsynergy.com/nutters/ Now Mette's site automatically redirect to there as well.

Now it seems that Mette is willing to do the same again, providing her website, and people who make solutions can send them to Mette (perhaps Tyteen will write some software to make it easier to order all these solutions) and Mette will check if the solutions are clear and then put them on her website.

Does you server support:
-PHP5
-MySQL 5
-Remote FTP
-Maybe .htpasswd

And do you wish to bother installing phpMyAdmin?

(1,2,3 are required, 4 is required for admin panel, but of course I can write something that doesn't need .htpasswd, and 5 is just for debugging and maintenance purposes)

If 1,2,3 are not available then the system will not work (without 3 it MIGHT still work, but it would take a lot of time to get it installed since patches will need to go through you to get on the site)

As I wrote earlier: I'm NOT a web site wiz and I honestly have no idea about what you're talking about, sorry  . I own the domain (nutters.dk), but it's hosted on a server, that's not mine, so I won't be installing anything.

I'm sure you mean well, and only want to program stuff to make things easier, but for me it just seems like too much trouble for something I can do "the old fashioned way" using a simple web site like the previous times. I'm not even sure I understand what your program would do  . I'm not ungrateful, this is just way over my head.

So either it's hosted on my domain "the old fashioned way" or it's hosted somewhere else with all the fancy bells and whistles as may be desired. Either option is fine by me :) .

Best,
Mette
