Grr, I seriously wish I chose something better than apples for protagonists. Apples have so many limitations. They have no hands or arms. Not even faces. A nice-looking respiration animation would be impossible to make, too. This is going to be a big problem when Evil Toaster 5 comes around with all of the story and cutscenes...

It's not really a problem with Evil Toaster 4, but I really wish I didn't choose characters that were so simple. Perhaps I'll tweak things a bit in Evil Toaster 5, but for now...

THIS IS WHERE SOAP COMES IN!

I think I figgured out a eazy way to show emotions...you have a small sprite in the corner, and use difrent things to fit emotions. Eg:
Sweat=Stress
Heart=Love
Those red plus thingies(see screenshot)=Anger

Also, you could have whatever you want them to hold float next to them...who needs arms? They can walk and jump, but they don't have legs.

I'm actually planning on giving the apples faces in Evil Toaster 5. :P

It'll add a boatload of possibilities and make cutscenes more exciting (the game is going to be humorous, but still serious at the same time).

Anyways, about Evil Toaster 4, I've decided to make cutscenes happen only after you defeat bosses.

Hmm, slippery? BETTER ADD ICE LEVELS.

There won't be soap, though... But maybe Soap.

That's just crazy. 900!?!

Can you tell us anything about Soap, or do we need to wait for the demo?

Sure, here's a few facts...

-He's the only apple that's musically talented.
-He has a tuba that he can somehow play entire songs on that contain instruments other than tubas.
-If he feels crazy enough, he can play into his tuba hard enough to fly around.
-He's yellow.

You probably won't see too much of him in Evil Toaster 4, but he will be quite important in Evil Toaster 5.

However, you'll need to wait for a few demos (Perhaps until Demo 2 or 3?) before you actually meet him.

As for the other apple, you can just go find out yourself as he will be in Demo 1.

I still haven't gotten around to starting on the new enemies yet. I'm currently adding a few apples that will help you throughout your adventure when freed. This will include Soap.

Thanks! I like the tuba-fly thing. I have a idea, how about he can put things into his tuba and blow real hard to shoot them?

Soap is yellow...I'm gonna have to go make Mapac grey. Lol? :P

Can someone give me the link for the first one?

Okay, I think I've finally got the plot settled. There are three important mysteries/problems that make up the plot:

1. Roaster wants to kill the Apple because he's convinced that the Apple has the alleged Seed of Peace.
2. The Evil Toaster Chip is trying to make his new body - The Toast Man.
3. The Apple is trying to figure out his real name. He learns that his name lies somewhere in the Evil Toaster Chip's programming. Roaster also learns this, hearing that the Apple's name will be able to grant him the Seed of Peace. Roaster then wants to kill the Evil Toaster because he won't tell Roaster the name because the Evil Toaster Chip doesn't know (or does he?). The Evil Toaster Chip also refuses to tell the Apple. This brings all three of the plot strands together.

Is the Apple not knowing his name and only his Nemesis knowing based off Emerald's level series? :P *shot*

I don't see what that has to do with Emerald's levels aside from the name thing, but I had an idea of an epic climax where the Apple races Roaster to the Evil Toaster Chip or something.

In Emerald's Levels, Carnifex holds your name and will not tell because of its power. Or something like that. I got this information by completing "Escape from Headquarters" in the "Order of the Z-bot" Trilogy.

The Apple's name doesn't hold any "power." Just the key to the Seed of Peace somehow.

I can't go really in-depth about this idea, otherwise I'll start spoiling things.

DP.

I added this name thing to the plot because the Apple desperately needs a real name, particularly for Evil Toaster 5.

I also thought up the whole Evil Toaster Chip part of the plot way back during Evil Toaster 2.

Well, more things have been popping up on my to-do list before level design. These things (especially enemies) will probably take a while to make, so maybe another week before I get to level design.

-Finish up special helper apples
-New enemies
-Add new enemies to Enemy Index
-Add Portable Arenas
-Make first level to test gems
-Program the other 34 gems
-Edit the level warp pads to display whether the gems have been collected (so maybe I'm actually not done with the warp pads...)

Once I finish these, I can get to level design. Everything will be easy to make since all of the difficult stuff has been programmed from the to-do list I have.

Level design should go as quickly as Evil Toaster 2 did, and that's FAST. :o

The hardest features to program would be the new enemies and Portable Arenas.

As for a release date for Demo 1, I'm not sure yet, but it will probably be around the middle of May.
