That one artist is actually many different people. Kitsune^2, Mayhem, Jack, Renard, Klippa, Jackal Queenston, and one or two others.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is an interesting anime and somewhat strange. It has many awesome things and ideas, and some drawbacks as well. It's still a good show, though it is overhyped.
But anything -- even the STUPIDEST moments (and NGE has some dumb stuff in it too) is immediately forgiven and the show taken very, very seriously as soon as you once again hear this masterpiece of pure evil:

Whatever you think about the cartoon itself (I loved it by the way -- yes, stuff was missing, the pacing felt a bit rushed, and the elves looked awful but for the most part just the spirit of the book is so there) this song is amazing and a work of true genius. The OST as a whole was very good and the theme song is one of my favorites.
