I guess Kaboom! might have had a little water spilled on him, so he was in a bad mood, and Rainbow Spirit didn't steal the coins, in fact, he helps collect them. The only reason he kills you when you and he are in the same tile as him, is that when this happens he can't help but release a tiny bit of rainbow magic, just enough to destroy you. As for the other enemies, I guess they are just in bad moods.

Are they really evil? Perhaps their following Stinky is a way of showing affection, just like really friendly dogs. Unfortunately, they don't realize just how fragile their "friends" really are.
If their intentions are malicious, however, why? Why do they crave a taste of Stinky so?
If a Red Chomper mated with a Gold Chomper, would the result be an Orange Chomplet?
Would you call a baby Chomper a Chomplet? Not too sure, but it just sounds so cute!

1: If stinkers are not waterproof, how do they survive thunderstorms?
2: When you tramp a box onto another box, why don't you end up with a tower of 2 boxes?
3: When Stinky tramps onto a wall, why does he fly back up into the sky and explode?
4: How do rainbow spirits give rainbow coins to Stinky?
5: When do stinkers go to the toilet?
